1. Select an anatomy site from the list below and write a formal 10 page APA referenced research paper. The paper will include an introduction, the anatomy (bones/muscles) and function of the area selected, and a section for each injury discussed. The anatomy section will be no longer than 2 pages.
2. Include a minimum of 4 common injuries to the site you choose.
3. Each of the 4 injuries will be addressed separately and must include the 5 titled areas to be discussed. For each injury create a subheading and thoroughly describe the following: 1) how this injury occurs (mechanism); 2) how this injury is diagnosed; 3) how this injury would be treated (treatment protocol); 4) protocols for rehabilitation including the length of time needed for full recovery; and 5) any preventative measures that can be taken. These 5 areas must be addressed completely for each of the 4 injuries.
4. If any pictures are included, they must be formatted tight with the text. Pictures must be relevant and provide additional insight into the injury or treatment protocol. A maximum of 4 pictures measuring 2 inch x1½ inch per picture may be used. If used, they must enhance the paper and not merely act as filler.
5. Paper will be double spaced only throughout the entire paper, using 12 point New Times Roman type with 1 inch margins on all sides. The body of the paper will be 10 full pages and numbered, NOT INCLUDING your title page and references. Each page of the body under 10 full pages will result in a 10 point for each page short. Improper formatting is a minimum 10 point deduction.
6. Cite at least 8 peer-reviewed references (other than your textbook) in the body of the paper using APA style. No internet sources! Sources such as Web M.D., Sports Illustrated, Wikipedia, and Muscle & Fitness are not acceptable sources for this paper. Copies of the complete articles are to be turned in with your paper. Information used must be highlighted on the copies of the original articles. If information is from a book, also include the title page.
7. When writing, use correct terminology but do not use direct quotes from other sources, paraphrase. A formal paper is written in third person, not using the personal nouns of “I”, “me”, or “you”. Colloquial terminology or slang phrases are unacceptable in this paper. NO DIRECT QUOTES ARE ALLOWED! Summarize information from sources and put it in your own words, but be sure to cite your sources of information to give credit to the author. Otherwise you will be committing plagiarism and receive a zero (0) on the assignment. Failure to properly cite references in the body of your paper or direct quotes is a minimum 30 point deduction each.
8. If requested by the instructor, some individuals may be required to submit their papers online to be checked for plagiarism and source usage.
