This exercise will focus your thinking about who your chosen target people are and what social, cultural, religious and economic factors shape their lives. It will provide you with critical insights about the needs, opportunities and strategies that will help you understand the task that you face. Demographical information can be obtained from many sources including local councils, internet census sources, local library facilities and local government/member offices. Please Include information such as population statistics, breakdown of ages, socio-economic information, ethnic population figures, other local churches, Christian organisations, local newspaper and advertising information, available and suitable venues, local ministers fraternal information, and a useful map of the area. Remember that your demographic information may be focused on one of the following: i. A specific geographical location An area approved by your pastor on the basis that it is being seriously considered by you or others for a church plant satellite church or small group plant e.g. Sandringham, Caulfield, Cowes, Kooweerup, Footscray, Port Melbourne etc. ii. A specific sub-cultural group, or people group in Australia E.g. Youth or Gen. X, Uni. Students, Flat dwellers, Vietnamese migrants, etc iii. Other specific unreached people group in your city E.g. one of many listed in Unreached Peoples lists
