Please incorporate this quote into introduction and put few short lines about the why it is relevant to the proceeding essay, what the essay is about what it addresses ect = 150 word as above
The late Dr Arnold “Puggy” Hunter (1951-2001). ?Please, before you go running off with all good intentions , talk to our mob around the country .Talk to our services, because I can honestly tell you from the position that NACCHO is in, we would not-I will not- endorse anything that comes to the table that hasn?t been endorsed by my local community or through State bodies. So if you are going to do Aboriginal health, do it with us, don?t do it without us?.
The late Dr Arnold “Puggy” Hunter (1951-2001) cited in Couzos, S & Murray, R 2008, Aboriginal primary health care. An evidence based approach, 3rd edn, Oxford University Press, South Melbourne, Vic.
Initiatives must address the key issues identified in the AMA report and aren’t one of the ones described in the report. They MUST involve collaboration with or be controlled by the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health care community or either the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander health care community.
When you write about the initiative you need to explain the link between the issues identified in the AMA report and what is being provided by the initiative, so you will need to state what the issues are (related to your chosen initiative). Ask yourself, is the initiative I have chosen tackling some or all of the issues identified in the AMA report and if so, how is it doing that? It was relate to medical/health.
Remember you need to keep to the word count of 250 words per initiative. The above will relate to the first two points of the content section in the assessment criteria.
You then need to explain what approaches you would take to engage the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, when delivering Family-Centred Care, give examples of those approaches and explain why you are using them (back it up with your research). This must be written in the 3rd person e.g. Nurses need to
You need to provide examples of how you would work collaboratively with the family/patient/client as well as other health care professionals to provide family-centred care, demonstrate your understanding of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander concept of family and how you would adapt your practice to accommodate that. The above relates to the 3rd point of the content section of assessment criteria. The 4th point of the content section of the assessment criteria relates to your ability to tease out what is important and be succinct.
In short, no matter how clever an initiative is, it will not work unless there is culturally appropriate engagement and collaboration with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patient/family/extended family/community and you need to demonstrate (give examples) of your understanding of that requirement and how you would adapt your practice to ensure appropriate engagement was achieved.
