This order is extremely important because the last (2) papers I ordered from here were not good and the instructor gave an F and D on them. So, if I dont get an A on this paper because it was poorly written, or the directions were not followed then I will fail the class, and among other bad outcomes. So please, please read instructions, and put time and effort into this order. This order needs to be 4 -5 pages long, times roman 12 pt, and be in MLA format. There needs to be a thesis statement, as well as an outline completed. This order needs to be completed by Friday, November 16, 2012 by 4:00pm Pacific Standard Time. This order is a Literary Analysis essay on the book Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress. I need to know in advance if you have access to the book, and/or resources. If not I will have to scan the book in a .pdf, then upload to order, which will take sometime. So, please dont wait to last minute the book is 182 pages long. If you dont know how to write a Literary Analysis please go to the following link, and read how to write a Literary Analysis: http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/697/01/
You need to incorporate at least one literary critique on the novel or an article pertinent to a topic in the novel. You can use any ideas you have from reading the novel as well as any of the following below ideas to explore:
Structure and POV: The POV is first person and most of the story is narrated by Ma (not named in the book), but there is a chapter narrated by Luo and another by the Little Seamstress. How does this affect our understanding of the characters?
China the setting- as a character in the novel.
How does the cultural setting affect the actions of the characters?
The role of art in the story: humanity seems to hunger for artistic expression no matter the situation or risks.
What do we learn about China and the world from the historical perspective set forth in the novel?
The story could be said to be a love triangle. How does the love theme play out against the backdrop of confines of re-education? What motivates the characters to seek each other out? An interpretation of the Little Seamstress as a sort of sleeping beauty who is awakened by her suitors and decides to take off on her own.
How reading the novel may have affected our views of communist China and the Mao regime
Your own idea
Once you have decided on a focus, you need to formulate a working thesis, completed outline, then you need to decide on an article to incorporate into the essay. If you decide to focus on something to do with communist China, Chairman Mao, or re- education, you can use one of the articles Ive listed here, or find one on your own, as long as it is published in a credible source. Here are some to consider:
Articles on the novel Brooke Allen, A Suitcase Education NY Times Book Review 9/16/01 Alan Riding, Adopting a Country, then Crashing its Best Seller List Arts Abroad Josh Greenfield, A Twist on Balzac Time Europe
Articles on re-education Dune Lawrence, A new Long March The Ottowa Citizen Jan2, 09 Ernst Kux, Re- education a la Mao National Review 1976 Fu Hualing, Re- education through Labour in historical Perspective China Quarterly
