The rise of the liberal-capitalist order in the 19th century also gave rise to one of capitalism’s most influential critics: Karl Marx. In this essay i want to explore Marx’s revolutionary theory. Focusing on one of Marx’s most important early philosophical text, ‘The Jewish Question’, i want to evaluate two of Marx’s critiques of liberal-capitalist society: first, the critique that capitalism alienates human beings from their essence as productive beings. Second, that the liberal conception of rights serves to support capitalist society’s oppression of the working class.
