Select one personality trait and then review theories in our text. Choose two different theories and describe how each would view the formation and function of that trait as part of human personality. In a question and answer format, answer each of the following questions for each of the two theories you choose:
(1) How does the personality trait develop in humans? Where would the theorist say it comes from?
(2) What purpose or function does the trait appear to serve? How might the trait affect a person’s social and interpersonal relationships?
(3)(a) If the trait that you selected is closer to the desirable end of the trait continuum, then what methods or techniques might be used to increase, or at least maintain at a high level, the quantity of the trait? (e.g., make a person more self-confident).

(b) If the trait that you selected is closer to the undesirable end of the trait continuum, then what methods or techniques might be used to decrease the quantity of the trait? (e.g., make a person less aggressive).
Your answers to these questions should be in a question-and-answer journal format. Provide answers to all three questions in terms of one theory/theorist, and then answer all three in terms of your second theory/theorist.
Your final journal should be about 4 to 5 pages of text total (not including the title page or references). Even in a question-and-answer journal format, make sure to use advanced writing skills. For example, use clear, concise, thorough, analytical writing with proper sentence structure. Follow APA style in the use of material from your sources including proper use of quotations, paraphrasing, citations, and references. As a journal, you do not need an abstract, introduction, or conclusion sections; just answer the questions as clearly and directly as you can. Use one to two scholarly sources; the textbook is sufficient as your source for information. When and if able, utilize scholarly journal articles from the Myers Library as sources for your journal.
