Your paper should be between 4000 and 5000 words (note the number of words on your title page). Use reasonable margins (for easier readability, the average number of words in a line should be 10–15) and font size (at least 11pt), one-and-a-half or double line spacing. The paper must be typed and spell-checked.
In general, try to be as concise and clear as possible! Do not use terminology that you are unsure of its meaning. Even terminology that was discussed in class might be in need of some clarification.
Think of other students in the class as the target audience of your paper.
The paper should have roughly the following structure:
1. An introduction, in which the general background is presented.
2. A brief statement of your thesis and the main claims that you argue for.
3. Your exposition, discussion, and arguments. Try also to include connections to material discussed in class!
4. A conclusion, with which you close the paper and mention a general conclusion, some open problems, or maybe hint at some possible future work.
5. Finally, it would be great if your paper would include a diagram (after all, you’re writing about geometry.
Note, while it is ok to begin your research on the Internet, references and citations must be given from works in print!
