Part A of your portfolio is ?the learning log? and will contain reflective writing about your feelings about different activities in the course. This will be separate from Part B of the portfolio which is Application Activities?.
These are the portfolio contents for term 1 (see each week?s seminar notes for details). If you have missed a seminar you still need to do the task ? if it is based on a group discussion then you can still make your own comments and say that you were not at the seminar.
1. Part A
Using ideas from the seminar write about your personal language history. Make sure that you use a reflective style and don?t just describe what happened.
It should be divided into three sections ? early history, education and idiolect.
(350 words min.)
2. Part A
Devise a personal plan for language development for the next year.
You need to look at the results of your questionnaire, see what weak areas you have, look at the job you want to do and then which of those language skills are important.
You must then devise a plan for improvement using all the SMART objectives in your plan.
Print out and complete the questionnaire (your own assessment of your competence in English) and include it with your plan. Remember that this should be linked into what you say about your weaknesses and needs.
