This is the instructions the teacher gave us:
The first step in the project is identifying a problem.
Again, I’m thinking it should be something you could refer to during a job interview.
Your paper shouldn’t be more than 1 to 2 pages long. In it you should accomplish the following:
• State what you see as the problem.
• Back up your statement with research.
o Pretend this please , Tell me what the leaders in your field say about the problem. Cite sources in your paper. Don’t worry about APA/MLA style. Just include in your paper where you found the information.
o Include quotes from articles and/or leaders, if appropriate.
• Indicate what possible public opinion polls/surveys you might use for your next step in the project.
o Something like I suggested in the Project Overview: Check popularity polls between Charlize Theron and Julia Roberts. If your problem were health related then perhaps you would suggest a survey on how much trust patients put in their doctors. If your problem was getting people to bring their families to buy season ticket to a minor league baseball team then perhaps a survey on which sport fans feel is most appropriate for a family outing might be appropriate.
• Indicate how you might be able to incorporate what you learn from this project in a job interview or cover letter.
and here is how she is going to grade it:
EVALUATION CRITERIA
____/10 1. Your paper includes a clearly worded statement of what you see as the problem you want to focus your project around. The problem is focused rather than vague and wide spread.
____/10 2. Your paper indicates you’ve done some research into the problem. You paper includes what leaders in your field say about the problem. Your paper indicates where you found the information.
____/10 3. Your paper indicates possible public opinion polls and/or surveys you might use. (These don’t have to be actual opinion polls, just possibilities. The idea is for you to show me how you’re going to incorporate current public opinion on the topic.)
____/10 4. Your paper indicates how you might be able to incorporate what you’ve learned from this project in a job interview or cover letter. Interviewers often ask for examples of how you tackle problems. Could this be one of those examples?
____/10 5. Overall. This is the catchall category. Mostly it is designed to evaluate how clearly you communicate. So write well. Yes, spelling and punctuation count.
____/50 POSTED SCORE
