Research and analyze the recent problem of the illegal immigrants coming to the Unites States. Focus and analyze how their coming to the country affects the economy of ONE CITY in particular. (For example it may be New York or Los Angeles).
Explain the phenomenon (the problem) that is being addressed, how it is being addressed, and with what degree of success. Also consider what the revitalization effort overlooks, or what problems it fails to address.
As part of your analysis of this revitalization effort, I would like you to address the following question in the course of the paper: what “image of the city” has prompted people to see this phenomenon as a problem or has prompted the particular solution? How do people perceive their city, in other words, and what do they think the city ought to look like now or in the future? The answer should not be as general as saying, for example, “the city is currently crime-ridden but ought to be safe.” Rather, get into the cultural uniqueness of the city you have chosen, and the particular ways that people choose to represent the city in their written or visual media when they discuss this revitalization effort.
Please incorporate in the essay the two readings I have attached (“Planning for Sustainability” by Stephen M. Wheeler and “The Cost of Racial and Class Exclusion in the Inner City” by Wilson)
