Task
You are required to select one ? major ? financial institution (e.g. from banking, insurance orstock broking) and conduct a review of the company?s risks and risk management processes.
Your report should include:
1. A brief introduction to the chosen company.
2. Identification of main risks (financial and non-financial) faced and an analysis of the threats presented by these risks (You should make use of appropriate risk management frameworks including: COSO and the likelihood-severity matrix).
3. An appraisal of the company?s risk management processes.
4. Identification of the main corporate governance regulations impacting the company, e.g., Sarbanes Oxley, Combined Code) and the extent to which the company is compliant with these.
5. A concluding section which details a management agenda outlining how the company can improve its risk management processes.

Suitable Companies
You may use existing financial companies or ones that have since ceased to exist owing to financial problems eg Lehman Brothers, Bear Sterns, Barings, BCCI etc. There will be quite a lot written on these companies.
