Section 1: Do Now/Anticipatory Set
Your first grade class is beginning a unit on geographical landmarks, and you decide that Grande Prairie is the best place to start. You have planned a lesson about the geographical features and landmarks of the Peace Country. Your aim for the day is ?What are some familiar landmarks and places in my community?? Create a Do Now activity that will help students ease in to the lesson. Remember, this is the very first lesson of the unit.

Section 2: Input
Your third grade class is working on a unit about India. They have learned where India is, a bit about the culture, and are now learning about India?s resources( agricultural, manufactured, labor). Your aim for the day is ?How do India?s main goods and services affect Canada??. Create the input section of this lesson. Remember, they have already learned about the geography, culture and resources of India.

Section 3: Modeling/Guided Practice
Your second grade class is discussing how Grande Prairie has changed throughout history. You have just taught a lesson about how transportation in Grande Prairie has changed. For the independent practice section, you will ask students to create a timeline that illustrates
1) how transportation has changed in Grande Prairie and 2) how they think it will continue to change. What can you do for the modeling/guided practice section of the lesson, without giving them too many ideas for the independent practice section?

Section 4: Independent Practice
You are teaching a lesson to your Kindergarteners about groups and communities. Your aim for the day is ?Can we belong to several groups at once?? Create an age appropriate activity (independent practice section of the lesson plan) that will help students understand the aim.

Section 5: Closure
You are just finishing a unit with your fourth graders about how Alberta?s demographics have changed since the early 1900?s (think population distribution, ethnic groups and languages spoken). In this particular lesson, you discussed how people have settled in both rural and urban areas. What do you do to provide closure to this lesson?

Section 6: Assessment
Your fifth graders have just finished a unit on the Famous Five. Create an assessment (either for the final lesson, whatever that may be, or for the entire unit) that will allow you to know whether or not students ?got? the big concepts.
