Choose an end item, preferably a consumer item. You will focus on this item and its industry throughout the Session Long Project.
Choose a product that is MADE IN AMERICA. This Course will focus mostly on domestic supply chains. You can go to one of these websites:

Some examples for you to consider are; blue jeans, chair (or other furniture), candy, cheese, bicycle. Don?t choose something really complex like an automobile.
DO NOT WRITE ABOUT A SPECIFIC COMPANY OR ITS SPECIFIC PRODUCT IN SLP1. THE PRODUCT SHOULD BE GENERIC FOR SLP1. FOR EXAMPLE, IF YOU CHOOSE BLUE JEANS FOR SLP1, DO NOT WRITE ABOUT LEVI’S OR LUCKY. SLP1 IS TO BE ABOUT THE GENERIC PRODUCT AND THE GENERAL EXTENDED ENTERPRISE SUPPLY CHAIN (EESC).
The extended supply chain should be all or nearly all in the USA.

Develop the total Extended Enterprise Supply Chain for this item. Create a diagram and discuss it. What are the various industries that provide the materials and logistics from Raw to Retail? What is the total time from Raw to Retail? How old is this product and how has it evolved? What are the emerging technologies that affect the current and future supply chain and logistics? What some of the key issues involved in getting the product made, distributed, and in the hands of the user? What other important and relevant information is there about this Extended Enterprise and the final product?
Read the SLP Background Resources. Then do additional independent research on this paper. Find articles and references about the major industries in this extended supply chain and identify those at the beginning, the middle and the end of the chain.
You should have at least four references, more is better, to obtain enough information about this supply chain. Cite your references properly in the paper and provide your list of references.

The research paper should thoroughly address these aspects in depth and breadth:
? Background: the product chosen for the focus, and information about the size of the market, e.g sales or numbers of product sold or number of people who use it, etc.
? Development of the Supply Chain: articulate the various industries, how they interact in the extended supply chain. Include a diagram of the EESC.
? Use of evidence and information: elucidate evidence and relevant information discussing technologies employed, relevant current logistical issues and support these positions and opinions. Use of the diagram and explanation.
? Writing style & Organization: well-formed sentences and paragraphs, well organized with flow of reason, and good use of language that pertain to concepts and terminology
? Use of references & Citations: at least four references; appropriate use of citations in the paper
