Your book analysis should have four main sections–
–one section should reflect on how this activist exemplifies, or does not exemplify, the name of this course, “Ain’t Gonna Study War No More.” The refrain from a well known folk and anti-war song, “Down By the Riverside” suggests what we as people need to do in order to end war and begin creating peace. The question to answer is how do your author’s ideals and work relate to the message in the song?
–one section should highlight the values upon which the author/activist basis her work–the question to answer is what is the core of her motivation for her work?
–one section should highlight the risks taken in the work of the cause for peace–the question to answer here is what are the risks that the activist has accepted as part of the work to which she has commited her life?
–one section should address what you learned about yourself as you read this book– the question to answer here is what rumbled in your heart as you read about this activist, and how did this impact your understanding of yourself as a global world citizen?
The analysis should review the significance of the work of the author, in light of the first assignment readings that discussed how women are more adversely impacted by war than are men.
Finally, the analysis should address whether or not you feel the activist’s work is successful in terms of meeting its goals. Be sure to explain how you define success for peace activism, as this will be the basis for this part of the paper.
Use standard essay format, references from at least three other essay content areas of this course, and citations from the book to support your arguments.
Grammar, spelling, syntax, organization, and quality of analysis are all factors in the grade for this analysis.
