Title: Provide a brief account (scenario) of no more than 300 words of a particular experience as a learner, teacher connected to an area of the course content presented to you. Explore theoretical concepts related to this, review and critique the extent to which your findings help you analyse the experience.
Here is my scenario:
Throughout my school and college life I achieved good grades through hard work and felt confident in my abilities. I often received one of the highest marks in comparison to my friends and my main goals were to have a successful education in my university life. This is why I was not surprised when I accepted a place in Bath university which is in UK’s top 20 university list. I always put my belief and confidence to the first place of my life and this was helped by the motivation of my peers and siblings. However, when I came to UK, things went downhill. Being away from my parent and peers affected my motivation so does my grades. Being in a new country and in a different culture was completely dissapointing and I started to find everything that we were doing in the lecture was really harsh. In addition when I received low marks from my assingments I felt worthless, like I cannot cope with this course anymore and would never be as clever as before. Then I believe I started to suffer with Generalised Anxiety Disorder as a fear of failure. It came to a head this January exams and I thought to defer my enrolment instead of attending my exams. I discussed my feelings with my parents and peers and they told me that as long as I was trying my best they were proud of me and wherever I am, they will be right there believing me. Then I realised that instead of trying to be best, trying your best is more important. Therefore I turned my attention to trying to my absolute best and keep my motivation high. By the begging of second semester when I received my feedback I was totally surprised. I was expecting fail from one of my subject but instead I got the highest mark from this subject when compared to others. I learned that as long as you keep your confidence and motivation high there is no reason that turn you to be unsuccessful.
I would like you to relate this scenario to attribution, self-esteem, motivation and anxiety concepts. Also please critique the extent to which these findings help to analyse the experience.
