Depending on which theory is discussed, the description may include specific information about a life event/circumstance of yourself, for example relationships, children/education, marriage/divorce, (un)employment, immigration, illness/death, economic hardship , a significant other (family member, friend) and/or specific information about institutional factors, for example your employment, your education, your family, your neighbourhood (a place you have lived in in the past, recently or currently) or organization you are involved with 5) A critique of the theory: Provide an assessment of the merits and detriments of theory in general but also including applicability to your life circumstances/event; 6) Conclusion: Summarize parts 3-5 7) Bibliography a minimum of 6 academic sociological sources outside the textbook. It is highly recommended that you read original theorist�s work as part of your research in answering the questions. There is no one singular right or wrong answer but a rational for your comments must be articulated, i.e. your discussion must accurately reflect the ideas of the theory/theorist, and your interpretation of ideas must be logically consistent. The format of the essay must include: academic style language, i.e. third person, section headings and page numbers; 1 � line spacing; times new roman, 12 point font, correct use of English (i.e. no street speak or similar). Word length: approximately 4000 but this is only a ballpark figure. If you go over or under this word length you will not be penalized. This essay will be an opportunity for you to demonstrate your understanding of theories and allow you to explore your thoughts on the theories considering the circumstances of your life and today. This essay is not an assignment where you contribute your own opinion about the theory. You are only contributing your own thoughts in so far as providing an aspect of life to be analyzed.
