Fictitious scenario.I have been appointed as a Sports doctor to lead a team of sports medical staff (one doctor,one physiotherapist,one fitness advisor and trainer) for a Women’s Rugby Team for a World Championship in Spain to be held in six month’s time.Expected day temperatures at the venues is expected to be around 25-35 degree celsius.The 26 player squad will assemble 10 days prior to departure at the Rugby Academy where they will train and play two matches under full match conditions.Seven days after arriving in Spain the team will begin the tournament, which will involve one match of pool play every four days for a total of 4 games.Qualification for semifinals and finals is expected and will involve another 3 matches.The team will fly economy class and will stay at a 4 star hotel which is happy to accomodate any dietary requests.The hotel has an indoor pool and gym.The training ground is located a short trip from the hotel.All game venues are located within a radius of 100 km from the hotel.The rugby federation union will provide generous funding and accident/medical insurance.
The remainder of the management staff includes a Coach,assistant coach,manager and assistant manager with an interpreter.The host country has also guaranteed full medical access at all the venues.
