Students will be required to complete a five-page research paper related to an unethical business issue that has recently (within the last three years) impacted a U.S. business. This paper should identify why this issue is considered “unethical” in the eyes of the student, the stakeholders affected, the consequences to the stakeholders and the final outcome of this issue (i.e. what happened to this business – fines, executive terminations, they are no longer in business?). This paper must be typed, double-spaced, with a font size no larger than 11 and font style Times New Roman only. Please allow for one-inch margins on all sides of letter-size paper. This research paper must follow APA format. Please see Professor if details on APA format are required. A cover page introducing the paper must include student’s name, Professor’s name, course title, paper title and date submitted. A “Works Cited” page completing the paper must include a minimum of three (3) sources. Please follow APA format for documenting sources. NOTE: Both the cover page and the “Works CIted” page are NOT included as part of the five-page paper requirement. Please try to use the attached chapter notes to incorporate these business ethics concepts in explaining why the Capital One Bank scandal was unethical in that the bank failed to adequately monitor activities of third-party credit-card vendors, which were pressuring or misleading consumers into paying for add-on products such as payment protection and credit monitoring when they activated their credit cards.
