1. Rationale Within the coming decade, Thai government agencies will need to prepare for the loss of important experience and technical knowledge as the baby boomer generation gets ready to retire. The knowledge management system can help to retain crucial knowledge. However, results from other countries showed that there were many organizations launched knowledge management initiatives, but theyd fail (Storey and Barnett, 2000). In Thailand, there have been many attempts to implement knowledge management in theamong government organizationsand as well as the private sectors (Nattapol et al, 2010). But many these have not been largely successful (Intree, 2008). If we can understand similarities and differences between the generations, this can be fundamentalin building successful multi-generation workplaces (McNichols, 2010). 2. Research Question What are the similarities and differences of Thai government officers among three generations in relation to knowledge management and what is the better way to share knowledge in organizations? 3. Aims and Objectives This study aims to understand views of Thai government officers from three generations (Baby Boomer, Generation X, and Generation Y) regarding toknowledge management, in order to increase the success of knowledge sharing in organizations. The main objectives of the study can be seen as follow: 1. To find out the similarities and differences of Thai government officers among 3 generations (Baby Boomer, Generation X, and Generation Y) in relation to knowledge management; and 2. To suggest the betterway to share knowledge in the organizations 4. Literature Review The main literature review can be classified into 3 main topics; knowledge management, knowledge sharing process, and generational differences in the workplace.
