1. Use two current academic references (peer-reviewed journals or books other than the course textbook), which were published in the past 5 years. Do NOT use any non-academic references, or any references published prior to 2006. The references should serve as a foundation for the development of your philosophy. Locating references that build on or further discuss theories and concepts covered in the course is a great strategy.
2. Answer one or more of the following questions in your paper: What is leisure, recreation, tourism or hospitality (select one)? Why is it important? As a professional in the field, how do you hope to impact people and the profession? What is the role of leisure, recreation or hospitality professionals in the world today? What do you hope to accomplish through your work in the profession? Describe the values and principles that will guide you throughout your career.
3. The minimum paper length is 1,000 words, including the introduction, body and conclusion. Title pages and abstracts are not needed and will not be counted toward the required length.
4. The assignment should be typed, double-spaced, utilize a 12 point readable font, be spell and grammar checked, and include APA citations in text as appropriate and in the reference section at the end of the paper. Double space throughout the paper, including the reference section. Do not place extra lines before or after headings, paragraphs, or sections.
