A number of academic journal articles will be discussed throughout the course. You are responsible for writing a brief summary of three of these articles (I will announce which ones). These summaries should be brought in hard copy to class and turned in at the end of class. Summaries should be at least two pages in length (12 point Times New Roman or Arial font, double spaced, 1? margins top and bottom, 1.5? left and right). Reading summaries will receive grades of check-plus (100%), check (75%), or check-minus (50%).
Your summaries should answer the following questions:
What is purpose of this study? What question are the authors trying to answer?
How does this study relate to topics we have discussed in class?
What data are used in the study?
What are the findings?
What is the significance of these findings? Are there any policy implications?
Is there anything you think the authors did not account for or could have done better?
What questions do you have about the article?
