Taking into account Brookhart’s article, your readings from McMillan this week, and other research from the weekly readings and from your own research, discuss the following:
What is meant by “multiple measures”? What is the importance of using multiple measures in the classroom? What types of measures would you regard to be useful? What types of measures would not be useful? Why? What kinds of misunderstandings can arise when teachers are assessing through multiple measures? (Be sure to justify your argument with references to supporting theory).
Your response must include a discussion of Brookhart’s and McMillan’s views on multiple measures. Once again, you will need to show evidence of wide reading, and you will need to discuss, compare and analyse ideas rather than just restate information from various sources.
In order to formulate your argument, you will need to read and understand what McMillan has to say about the use of multiple measures, and of course any further reading you do will only enhance your ability to provide a strong case.
Once again, you need to go beyond simply summarising Brookhart’s points. However, you might like to do such a summary, as it would be a useful step in your process of understanding the material and formulating your ideas.
Writing must be in the third person and you must also include a List of References that complies with APA referencing guidelines.
