Skill and Strategies Plan;
A key element of this unit is to develop methods to assess and develop your own language use and
competence.
This task gives you an opportunity to think about and plan ways to improve your language skills
language around the macro-skill areas of speaking (oracy).
You are required to produce two plans – one for writing and one for speaking. For each plan, you
should cover the following:
i) The importance of speaking in English, with a focus on its importance in your present
and future life
ii) A description of what you think are your main strengths and weaknesses in the skill area
(speaking). Be as specific as you can.
iii) An outline of three strategies you can use to improve your ability in this area, with a focus on
the weaknesses discussed in ii).
