I would like you to identify a case study from your practice. It may have involved work with an individual (and their family/ carers) regarding a mental illness OR it may involve a project in the areas of mental health promotion, mental illness prevention and/or early intervention.
Briefly outline your contact with the case study concerned:
• your initial ‘assessment’ (or needs analysis if it was a prevention/ promotion project);
• your engagement with the person or project
• the finishing or completion of your contact with the person/ project
I would now like you to reflect on the case study, considering where and how a social justice lens was used to inform your practice AND/OR how a social justice lens may have enhanced your practice. As you can see below, the grades you receive are not based on how well you ‘did’ in your case study as such; rather it focus on your ability to see how a human rights/ social justice lens can impact your practice at every stage of the intervention.
Please note: the word count does not include the actual case study itself; it applies only to the analysis of the case study. It is expected that you will prepare the case study analysis like a written report, that is, that there will be an introduction and conclusion. You are welcome to use headings if you find this enhances the structure of your report. Please do not use dot points. Finally, I expect reflections to be appropriately supported by academic literature. The actual case study itself should be attached as an appendix to your analysis.
