Student brief:
A crop of broadleaf evergreen shrubs will be propagated by the full time students and part time year two students to form the basis of a trial.
The trial will look at both internal and external influence of hormones on the rooting of the crop.
At the appropriate stage (indicated by lecturer) the full time students and year two part time students will harvest the roots and take the following measurements:
� The length of the longest root
� The fresh weight of the combined roots of each cutting.
This data must then be circulated by email to every member of the group.
� These results should be presented in tabular form and graphical form clearly showing how the difference in rooting hormone concentration affects the rooting of the crop.

� You should clearly discuss and conclude the findings of the trial. This section of the assessment should have a clear introduction, results and conclusion.
In addition to this you will also produce a Grower fact sheet clearly demonstrating the practical methods of propagation of broad leaf evergreen shrubs. The fact sheet should include as a minimum:
� Type of material used for propagation
� Method of producing nodal tip cuttings
� Method of producing intermodal cuttings
� Type of growing media
� Role of hormones
� Establishment of the crop
Photographs and diagrams are encouraged.
The work should be fully referenced.
