Topic: semi- structured interview with an entrepreneur who has recently started a business Custom Paper

[meteor_slideshow slideshow=”arp1″]

You are invited to conduct a semi-structured interview with an entrepreneur who has started a business recently. A semi-structured interview starts out with between 5 and 10 questions and the interviewer should ask follow-up questions based on what is told by the entrepreneur. (See example below).

The purpose of this assignment is to familiarize yourself with the process of customer development. Customer development in its most basic form refers to the fact that any entrepreneur needs to find a product/market fit through customer discovery and subsequent customer validation. It revolves around the idea that a product is developed for a customer and any entrepreneur needs to present his product to this customer, check if it adheres to the expectations of the customer and change the product if necessary.

See the following link to inform your understanding of the customer development process:

http://ecorner.stanford.edu/authorMaterialInfo.html?mid=2058

The semi-structured interview should tap into the following three key-areas:

How the entrepreneur discovered who the customers would be (everyone vs. targeted segments)
Whether initial contact with customers changed the product or service to increase the product/market fit, prior to launch.
How subsequent customer contact shaped the product or service after launch.
The interview should be transcribed (recorded and typed out) and analysed (you are invited to derive two aspects from the experience of the focal entrepreneur that are relevant for your current start-up initiative).

To be uploaded as individual assignment: The transcribed interview (it will typically be around 3-4 pages), the two selected aspects and accompanying rationale as to how they could be applied in your start-up (max. 1 page).

Example question: How did you get in first contact with customers and could you please explain how initial contact with customers changed your product/service prior to launch?

As an internet consultancy company we present clients with solutions for representing their firm online, it is to say we create their full online identity (website, online sales, strategic use of internet) in dialogue with the client. This is different to how we started when we were mostly focused on the website but not as much on the underlying value of a strong contemporary online identity.

Follow-up 1: How did you first get in contact with customers?

As a student I worked for the University (as an employee) and developed part of their website, this assignment increased in scope and I decided to work as a free-lancer instead in order to negotiate a better pay and to have set up my own company along the way.

Follow-up 2: Did you experience any difficulty altering the work relationship with the university and how did this impact your ‘product’/’service’?

At first the university was reluctant to hire me as a freelancer, but I managed to convince them by emphasizing that I had worked for them for a relative low salary for two years and had in-depth knowledge about their website. It resulted in the fact that they agreed to hire me as a freelancer and this meant I became more of a partner rather than an executioner. Meetings previously held without me where the future of the online identity of the university was discussed now were held in my presence and this meant that the whole idea changed.

But your main activity is still the internet consultancy company?

Yes, I consider the CEO position at the printer company as a long term investment, it basically only means that I own 25% of the company, there is no real administrative burden for me there. But it definitely changed how I think about my company and the activities we deploy. It also meant we went from a two person company two years ago to a team of 12 full-time employees now.

Note how follow-up questions get you to the core of issues at hand. We suggest you to come up with 5-10 start questions centered around the three key areas. You will find that each question will give ample opportunity for follow-up questions. Follow-up questions will evolve from the interview, hence you need to listen carefully to what the entrepreneur says and think quickly about what to ask.

Children and adolescents in groups: Group Therapy With Children and Adolescents Custom Paper

[meteor_slideshow slideshow=”arp1″]

Children and adolescents bring both challenges and opportunities to group therapy. To begin with, minors require the permission of a custodial parent or guardian. Before group therapy can begin, a custodial parent will need to provide informed consent for a child/adolescent to be seen. Confidentiality must also be discussed, especially in our age of technology, where it’s very easy to post content on the Internet.

Once informed consent and confidentiality have been addressed, the structure and style of the therapy group should be considered. Teens might not be as willing to engage in group therapy, and they might not understand the concept as well as an adult. Therefore, as a group therapy leader, you might need to take extra time during screening to orient the teen to the group therapy process. Children, meaning pre-teens, might exhibit similar challenges. Most young children are not very verbal, and the therapy group leader might need to do more modeling and provide greater structure through activities.

For this paper: review scholarly journals such as:

The Theory and Practice of Group Psychotherapy by Irvin D. Yalom and Molyn Leszcz

Consider how children and adolescents might impact group therapy. In addition, think about how you might adapt your leadership style when working with children and adolescents.

Write:
1) A brief explanation of three ways in which children and three ways in which adolescents might impact group therapy.
2.) Then, explain two ways you might adapt your group leadership style when working with children and
3) Two ways you might adapt your group leadership style when working with adolescents.

Provide examples to support your response.

The references/text book that I ‘am using is:

Yalom, I. D., & Leszcz, M. (2005). The theory and practice of group psychotherapy (5th ed.). New York, NY: Basic Books.

If you can’t access this book you must use one that is similar (scholarly text book) this assignment must be too the point and accurate. Don’t repeat or rephrase a sentence that you have already written. State it once and move on.

Cost Scenario: Consider whether to accept an order for a product that requires displacing another product from production Custom Essay

[meteor_slideshow slideshow=”arp1″]

This decision employs contribution analysis, opportunity cost, and cost concepts. Base your decision on the University of Phoenix Material: San Juan Cell Phones, which provides a problem statement, opportunities, and end-state goals.
Write a report of no more than 1,050 words that explains the following in the context of the scenario:
• Identify and describe each of the costs of production at San Juan Cell Phones, and explain how they differ from one another.
• Identify alternative solutions to meet the end-state goals.
• Analyze and evaluate the alternatives that you identified, using incremental cost and contribution analysis.
• Perform risk analysis to identify potential risks and negative consequences of the alternative solutions.
• Make a recommendation of the best alternative solution and explain how it best meets the desired end state.
Include APA-style citations and references where appropriate.

San Juan Cell Phones Scenario Summary

San Juan Cell Phones is a manufacturer of cell phones in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where Maria Perez works as a business development specialist. Maria anxiously awaits her appointment with Lisa Norman, the production manager for San Juan Cell Phones. Maria has secured an order for 100,000 cell phones, virtually identical to San Juan Cell Phones’ Alpha model, which will support a promotion that a major chain, Big Box, is running with a telephone service provider. The delivery date is in 90 days. Lisa is interested, in part, because she has an excess capacity of 70,000 cell phone units over the next three months, and part of her bonus is based on running the factory at capacity. However, the larger part of her bonus is based on factory total profitability. Big Box, however, will not pay over $15 for each of the cell phones because prices are based on the $20 per unit Alpha model, lessening Maria’s enthusiasm.

San Juan Cell Phones runs two production lines at its factory. The other line produces the Beta model, which has more features. It sells for $30 but also costs more to produce. Lisa knows that she could switch production of 30,000 units from the Beta model to Alpha to complete the order. However, just last week an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), which has extensive experience manufacturing cell phones for other brands and has won several quality awards for its manufacturing processes, showed Lisa a prototype of the Alpha unit. The OEM sought to convince Lisa that, not only could it produce up to 100,000 units of Alpha on short notice, but the performance of the cell phone would be identical to San Juan Cell Phones’ product. The price would be a nonnegotiable $14 per unit.

After the meeting, Lisa reviewed the last month’s unit profitability report, which revealed the following:

Table 1.

Unit Profitability Report
Alpha model Beta model
Price per unit 20 30
Variable cost per unit 8 12
Fixed overhead 9 10
Profits 3 8
Note. All unit prices are in dollars.

While unit profits were good and cost controls met factory standards, the underutilization of capacity deprived Lisa and the factory of profits that could have been earned on an additional 70,000 units. Maria wants to know if she should accept the order from Big Box.

As Lisa Norman thinks about how to proceed, she studies San Juan Cell Phones’ statement of values. It includes the following:

• Keep our employees working.
• Provide our customers with products on time and that reliably meet or exceed their expectations.
• Treat our business partners the same as we want to be treated.
