Develop an ontology for the following business application and implement it using the recommended software and version (Protege 311).
The deliverables are:
1. An ontology (knowledge base and instances) software model developed in the software.
2. A document (MSWord) that reports on the ontology and its development by explicitly addressing the numbered criteria below (please cut and paste the criteria into your document) with textual description and supporting annotated screen captures.
Context
You are to develop a knowledge base for the Olympics (Onto-Olympic) that can support stakeholders including spectators, retailers, athletes, researchers and officials, undertaking information activities (e.g. search, retrieval, problem solving) on the Internet. Whilst you might use a local context as a starting point you should seek also to generalise so that it could be used to support the Olympics globally.
For example:
A spectator wants to purchase tickets to the 100m event.
An athlete wants to know the performance history.
A researcher wants to find information about history of the Olympics.
An official wants to consult the rules of competition.
An example of some competency questions that Onto-Olympics might aim to answer are:

a. Which events are scheduled for a particular venue, day and time?
b. Which competitors from what countries are competing?
c. What accommodation is available?
d. What transport options to and from the venues are available?
e. Who holds the records for the 100m sprint?
f. What ticketing options are available?
2. An athlete wants to know
a. Where is their accommodation?
b. When are their events?
c. Where are their events?
d. What is the performance history of their main competitors?
e. What is their own performance history?
f. Which are the banned drugs?
3. A researcher wants to know
a. What is the historical performance for the marathon?
b. Who are the past winners of the decathlon?
c. What books and research articles are available about high performance pole vaulting?
d. Which cities have hosted the Olympics through history?
e. How many gold medals did China win at the Beijing Olympics?
4. An official wants to know
a. What are the rules for swimming?
b. What are rules for soccer?

Assignment Criteria
Ontology Software Model
1. Classes – abstract and concrete, appropriate hierarchy (guideline of scale at least 10-20 classes, over two to three levels.)
2. Slots – values, domains, relationships, inverse slots
3. Instances – sufficient to illustrate the richness and variety of the data
4. Documentation – in the classes, slots and wherever appropriate (try to define terms clearly, and provide examples of synonyms)
5. Naming conventions as per Ontology Development 101
6. Queries – demonstration of attempts to answer the set of competency questions
7. Forms – Customisation to support usability for end users (knowledge engineers) to enter and display data
To illustrate the above in your document you should provide a brief example (text and annotated screens) of each. So don’t write twenty pages listing every class, slot and query, rather try to give a summary and an example.

The document should explicitly address the numbered criteria above and below with textual description and supporting annotated screen captures.
8. Methodology – Outline the process/method by which you developed the ontology. (e.g. refer to Ontology Development 101)
9. Models – Annotated sketch/diagram/s of the model/s showing evolution from first model to third model (basic, intermediate, final) It is recommended to use UML for the diagramming however whatever diagramming tool you use you must describe its conventions so the reader is clear what the diagram represents. Textual description of terms and relationships in the model showing evolution from first to third model (basic, intermediate, final)
10. Showcase – Briefly communicate, with text and screens, to the examiner, pointers to any extra features and/or ideas you have developed and/or researched.
11. Referencing (in-text and end of document) (author-date) referencing.
12. Expression, grammar, spelling and word use with an adequate level of paraphrasing (in own words)
13. Presentation – word count on cover page, contents, sections as per assignment criteria, page numbers, annotated screens and diagrams, and references.
14. Lessons learnt – a section (250-500 words) that provides some critique (pluses, minuses, improvements, interesting points) about the software, the assignment, the application, and how a business could use the ontology software model.
