What is the main difference between Aristotle?s account of virtue and Socrates? account of virtue? Who has the more plausible view? TEXTBOOK EXTRACTS 2 AND 4. Custom Essay

[meteor_slideshow slideshow=”arp1″]

1) The paper you are to write in this course is only 1000 – 1300 words long. So no waffle! This word limit will be strictly enforced (it excludes references and direct quotations.)Make your introductions brief. In the conclusion, briefly sum up what you have achieved in your paper.
2) Each of the essay questions asks you to critically assess a central view of a philosopher. This task has two parts to it.
3) First part: accurately describe the relevant view of the philosopher. Include background you think is absolutely necessary for understanding the view, but not too much background. (For example, we don’t need to read that Socrates was a Greek philosopher who lived from 469 BC to 399 BC and who was sentenced to death by the Athenian court for corrupting the youth of Athens.)
4) Second part: critically assess the philosopher’s views. Do you agree with them? Can you think of counterexamples to the views? These are examples where the philosopher’s views appear to be clearly wrong or counterintuitive. Can you think of other kinds of arguments against the philosopher’s views? Here we are looking for you to build up a brief and compelling case either for or against the philosopher’s views.
5) In philosophy essays, we look for clarity of expression above all else. Your paper should be carefully written so that the meaning of each sentence is clear and the way it helps build up your argument is clear. Imagine you are writing the essay to teach someone who knows less about the subject than you do.
6) You are welcome to use secondary sources (i.e. people writing about the philosopher’s views) as well as primary sources (the writings of the philosophers themselves).
7) Use of secondary sources is not compulsory. If you can build up a compelling case for or against the philosopher’s views by yourself, then you are welcome to do this. You won’t be marked down because you haven’t included references to secondary sources. Be careful though. Be sure that your case for or against the philosopher is a good one and can stand up to careful scrutiny. If in doubt about this, use secondary sources. You will be marked down if you only summarise the Lecture Readings and the Lecture notes.
8) If you do use a source in writing your paper, then you must cite it. If you read a secondary source, but don’t adopt any of the ideas in it for your paper, then you don’t need to cite it. You can add it to a list of “Works Consulted” at the end of your paper, but that is up to you. If you use any idea from another person’s writing, you must cite that writing. If you use the actual words of another person, always, we really mean always, put quotation marks around the passage and cite the source. Don’t paraphrase another person’s ideas and pass them off as your own: this is plagiarism, just as much as stealing other people’s words.
9) Use quotations sparingly. Don’t include too many of them in short essays like these one. Two or three, perhaps four, quotations are perfectly fine, as long as they are relevant and not too long. If you include more quotes than this, a significant percentage of your essay becomes made up of other people’s words. Your tutor cannot assign you marks because of words you have merely quoted.
10) You may use any of the standard citation systems. Philosophers are not fussy about this. Make sure that full bibliographical details are included. (Author, publisher, place of publication, year of publication, page numbers). When citing internet sources include the URL and your date of access.
11) Remember that your lecturer and tutors are there to help you. You can run your ideas for the essay by them either during consultation hours or through an email query. Do NOT expect your tutor to read a full draft of an essay – at most an emailed short skeleton plan for advice well before the due date on whether it is on an acceptable track.

Law: “Assume that agents for the EPA come into Skywalker’s store and arrest him. Can the EPA fine and/or jail Skywalker? Explain why you answered yes or no. Also, explain if there is any possible way that he could be jailed.” Custom Essay

[meteor_slideshow slideshow=”arp1″]

Anakin Skywalker lives in Endor, California. As a resident of Endor, Skywalker owns a single- story house where he resides with his wife, Padme, and their two children, Yoda and Chewie. To pay his mortgage and property taxes, Skywalker owns and operates a small business called Tablemania, a store where he manufactures and sells coffee tables carved by his lightsaber.
Over the years, Skywalker has become world renowned for his critically-acclaimed coffee tables. In fact, just last year, Skywalker was featured on the cover of Table Illustrated as being the number one coffee table designer in the world. Skywalker often gets special orders from Hollywood’s biggest stars (like George Lucas and Harrison Ford), and if you look really closely, you can almost always spot one of his coffee tables as set pieces in movies and television shows. Known for his signature glass tops, all of Skywalker’s tables feature glass so thin and clear that his tables can sometimes appear invisible. In a period of five years, Skywalker went from selling 50 tables a year to selling 1,000 tables a year, and his profits are now quickly approaching one million dollars per year.
However, just when things seemed to be going perfectly for Skywalker, he learned one night while watching the national news that the Environmental Protection Agency (“EPA”) had just passed a regulation calling for the ban of all glass-top coffee tables. Wondering what effect this would have on his business, Skywalker searched for the legislation on the internet, but he couldn’t find anything. Instead, he did additional research and found the following regulation on the EPA’s website:
In 2012, for the safety of all coffee-drinkers, the EPA will regulate all coffee tables to ensure that they are safe for the placement of coffee cups available in the United States. All glass top coffee tables are hereby banned in the United States and any person that produces a glass top coffee table after the effective date of the regulation shall be jailed for ten days and fined $5,000 per illegal coffee table.
When reading more about the EPA, Luke learned that the EPA’s director is appointed by the president, serves a five year term, and can only be removed by the president for good cause. He also learned that the EPA seems to be passing regulations through notice and comment and has an adjudicatory department where he could file a grievance. On the same website, he found 2 hyperlinks. The first hyperlink took him to a statute that created the EPA. It was very long, but
1
Luke saw that the EPA was established by Congress “to protect the environment for the people of the United States.” The second hyperlink took him to something called the Federal Register where he was able to read the entire regulation about coffee tables.
In reading the Federal Register, Luke learned that the regulation was published in the Federal Register on July 1, 2012 and was scheduled to take effect on July 10, 2012. According to the Federal Register, no comments were received by the public on the regulation, and no findings were made by the EPA to establish why a “glass-top” is dangerous
Skywalker’s business could be ruined by this regulation, and Tablemania has already sold five glass-top coffee tables since July 10.
Questions:
1. Assume that agents for the EPA come into Skywalker’s store and arrest him. Can the EPA fine and/or jail Skywalker? Explain why you answered yes or no. Also, explain if there is any possible way that he could be jailed.
2. Can Skywalker sue the EPA and challenge the regulation? Assuming he can, how can he go about suing the EPA (discuss all possible courts) and what arguments and facts can he present in order to get the regulation banning glass tops overturned? In answering this question, make sure you discuss the following issues, among others, as Skywalker would advocate them: the Constitutionality of the EPA, the method used to pass the regulation, what type of judicial review may be used, etc.
3. Assuming Skywalker is able to sue the EPA, what defenses will the EPA assert to try and defeat Skywalker’s case? In answering this case, make sure you discuss the following issues, among others, as the EPA would advocate them: the Constitutionality of the EPA, the method used to pass the regulation, the interpretation of the organic statute by the EPA, etc.

Recent political conflict in Thailand; its reasons and its impact on the economy Custom Essay

[meteor_slideshow slideshow=”arp1″]

This is the dissertation about the political conflict in Thailand.
It’s impact on economy. The topic may be a bit change.
please read the comment from supervisor below.

Perhaps you could focus on the impact on tourism and gather information which identifies business owners perspectives? You also need to think how you would differentiate your research from your literature review. In your literature review you don’t particularly mention any theories – e.g. FDI would be good to define and outline. Are there other relevant economic theories that take into account politics? Is there any research based on these into other countries that might give some valuable insights and approaches?

We should meet again just to refine your approach when you have had some more time to think it through.

On the plus side you write very well and your methodology is very good though I am not sure I agree that its the right approach for a piece of research on the economy. If you were to rephrase your question to talk about individual perceptions on the impact of the the political situation on the economy then a purely qualitative approach would be fine.

Qualifed Programmers Custom Essay

[meteor_slideshow slideshow=”arp1″]

Use the sources I have provided (See file, Sources) along with any other sources that may be helpful in answering the question. Answer the following question.

Martha Walker started a software development firm about five years ago in Tyler Texas. Business has grown with revenues nearing $20,000,000. She is concerned about finding qualified programmers to continue business expansion.

• Develop three recommendations for finding qualified programmers.
• Why are the recommendations appropriate for her situation?

(Hint: Check out Tyler. Would it appeal to the creative employee she needs? Would employees even need to live in Tyler? Don’t forget to check out higher education opportunities in Tyler and the surrounding areas that could produce the employees she needs. Richard Florida has done much research on the creative class and what communities need to attract creative employees.)
