six or more secondary sources are required for this essay Custom Essay

[meteor_slideshow slideshow=”arp1″]

For the fourth assignment, you must write a major research essay, at least 8-10 pages in length; six or more secondary sources are required for this essay. Secondary sources are critical writings on any primary sources you may use. When you are writing a critical essay on Shakespeare’s “Hamlet,” the play would be considered a primary source; any critical works written on “Hamlet” would be considered secondary sources. Up-to-date sources are sources printed within the last five to ten years. Of course, when a historical overview is presented, the sources may be older. The research papers must follow the MLA in-text citational method. This method is explained in detail in the textbook. Moreover, the MLA has a website that explains the latest changes and additions to its method of incorporating sources and generating a Works Cited list: www.mla.org. You may send me an outline, but you are not required to do so. Send me the first draft; I will make comments, suggestions, corrections, and the grade you earned.

Marla and John are parents and they are looking at the immunizations programs Custom Essay

[meteor_slideshow slideshow=”arp1″]

Marla and John are parents and they are looking at the immunizations programs. They have both talked with friends at work and have gotten personal stories from their friends. Some of their friends have decided to not vaccinate their children and others have made the decision to vaccinate. There have been a lot of stories in the news about this controversy which is making it all more confusing. They are reading about HPV vaccine programs and the more established ones for Pertussis, DTaP, Hib, Hepatitis B, MMR, Polio and Vericella….but the general question that they have is “should we or shouldn’t we”?

After talking to their friends, they wonder if they should vaccinate their children and John suggests that they research the topic instead of just listening to friends who have no medical background. They are not sure about where to get information about what is needed and why. They are also concerned about the danger of getting any diseases and the dangers of having the vaccines.

Find articles from at least two different sources that your team feels would give them a balanced view – so typically one that is pro and one that is con. Cite your sources. The key question to cover in detail is the following: Tell why you see these as credible sources.

1. Find one article for the pro position. Summarize it.
2. Find one article for the con position. Summarize it.
3. State why EACH article is credible (come up with specific reasons and not just “they seem credible” or “they came from a book so they must be true”). Use the following “checklist” (or another such as CARS) to evaluate your source. List each item below and state how your articles rated on each.

Use the following to guide your discussion of “credibility” of your source. To determine credibility, you must “confirm the veracity” of your own research. Specifically, you must evaluate your source materials to make sure the evidence you use is relevant, sound, valid, and objective. Before you decide to use a source, examine the following issues:

Bias: Can bias, or a slanted point of view, be found in the author, the periodical, or the publisher? Look for objective sources. It is fine for the source to have a point of view but confirm that the point of view expressed in the source is supported by facts, not emotions or opinions.

Competence: Make sure the person you are quoting or paraphrasing has expertise in the subject matter and is qualified to comment on the topic.

Credibility: Examine the content of the evidence for logic and believability. Ask yourself if the evidence and its source earn your trust?

Completeness: Use enough of the evidence to present a clear and complete picture. Don’t take information out of context or mislead the audience by using only the portion that supports your point of view.

Recency: Make sure your evidence is as current as possible and has not been replaced by more recent research findings.

Relevance: Your evidence must relate to the topic you are exploring. Do not use the evidence just because you find it interesting.

Fallacies: Even with accurate facts it is possible for a researcher to make errors in reasoning when analyzing or interpreting those facts.

Because of the AIDS crisis the College Administration at Camden County College has decided to install condom dispensers in all of the rest rooms Custom Essay

[meteor_slideshow slideshow=”arp1″]

Assume the following:

that this decision has created a major controversy on campus,

that you currently commute to the College.

Write an essay in which you argue for or against the College Administration’s decision. In your argument you must cite at least two sources; include a Works Cited page. Use the format for citing that is common in your major.

(Underline the thesis (or the major proposition of an argument) of your essay. If you submit an essay in which the thesis (or major proposition) is not underlined, five points will be subtracted from the grade you receive for the essay.)

Commentary on topic 2

Because you are writing your first argument, you should check the course URL for the following: the form of an argumentative thesis, the parts of an argument, and the use of citations. For the citations, you will need to follow the go to the Purdue OWL.

Remember, the issue here is not AIDS or the effectiveness of condoms. The issue is the College Administration’s decision to install the dispensers. Assume that a vending company much like the companies that install soft drink and snack dispensers at school would install these dispensers. Also, don’t forget that you must assume that the college is Camden County College OR the college you currently attend.

Describe the paths of water through the hydrologic cycle Custom Essay

[meteor_slideshow slideshow=”arp1″]

1.Describe the paths of water through the hydrologic cycle. Explain the processes and the energy gains and losses involved in the changes of water between its 3 states. Operationally, we often most concerned with water does when it reaches the solid earth, both on the surface and in the sub-surface. Explain the relationship between the saturated zone, the water table, a ground water well and the cone of depression, all within the sub-surface.
2.The food chain is a valuable concept in biogeography. Give an example of a specific food chain, labeling the various levels of the food chain. After looking at characteristics of food chains, explain how a geographer’s approach to the study of organisms might be different than biologist’s study of organisms; what would each try to emphasize more than the other? What exactly is a biome? Compare/contrast the concept of the biome with that of the zoogeographic region. Compare/contrast the floral characteristics of 2 of the following biomes: Desert, Tundra, Midlatitude Grassland and Boreal Forest.
3.Theorize the difference in soil development in adjoining soils developed on forested, sloped area versus a grassed flat area. What are the soil-forming factors? Explain the importance of the nature of the parent material to soil formation and type. Then, cite at least 2 examples in which the influence of parent materials might be outweighed by other soil-forming factors. Explain the “struggle” between the internal and external processes in shaping the Earth’s surface. What are the different ways that the surface of the Earth is changed over time?
4.Describe the general sequence of events in continental drift since the time of 5 separate continents 450 million years ago. What is the difference between the older continental drift theory by Wegener and the more recent plate tectonic theory? Plate tectonics theory explains many seemingly unrelated phenomena. Explain how the patterns of volcanoes and earthquakes related to plate tectonics. Explain several pieces of evidence that combine to make the theory of plate tectonics the one that is generally accepted.
5.Provide a reason why some scientists believe the Pleistocene is over and a reason why other scientists believe we are now in an interglacial stage. Some believe, for example, that since areas of pack ice and glacial ice still exist we are still in an ice age. Others, on the other hand, seeing the rapid retreat of ice and snow pack in many areas, believes that this period of glaciation has ended. So, using some other justifications, why do we see some differences in interpretation? Is there some scientific data available that can support both sides view? If so, provide it. Why hasn’t this controversy been solved? What impact does this division of views have on the public policies that are enacted by state, national and international bodies?

Leadership of Teachers and Teaching Custom Essay

[meteor_slideshow slideshow=”arp1″]

This is a first person account of where I changed around the academic results of the Biology department at my school.

I was the new young incoming head of department to a well regarded but not well lead department. There well 2 members of staff in post. An older lady who was a safe pair of hands but uninspirational and a young popular male that did little teaching, but kept the students entertained.

The results in a level were ok, in comparison to the rest of the school.

I came in and realised the department was coasting and could do much better. There was no formal appraisal system.

I started to use lesson observations to highlight problems with their teaching. I was always positive and supportive and became good friends with the male, playing golf with him on the weekends.

After a year the male teacher confessed to me after school that he was having a crisis of conscience and did not feel he was teaching very well and that the students in the classes we shared we saying that his lessons were not as good as mine.

Soon after he asked for a sabbatical to go and teach at a montisory school in New Zealand. We jumped at the chance and let him go. He never returned. The female member of staff that thought she should have been made head of department also got another job and left.

They were both replaced by bight young enthusiastic teachers that were excellent. The popularity of the subject increased and the results jumped up massively.

As a young head of department wet behind the ears I had no idea what I had done. Five years later studying for a M.ED in educational Leadership I realised that I had used the Pacesetting Leadership style, which is usually negative to ‘work them out’ I do not think it was my intention to work them out but on refection that was the consequence of me trying to get them to up their game. And the only way I knew how was to work my ass off. I think I also used coaching leadership. I was affinitive with the young man. The was also a lot of Leader member exchange at play (LMX)

The essay needs support this story with leadership theory and where it has played a part. I think my conclusion is that everybaby has a leadership style even though they may not know it and effective leaders subconsciously use styles that are effective in certain situations. The driving force when leading the department, the Vision was making sure every student under our care achieved their potential.

Theories that should be included:
setting a vision
LMX
COACHING leadership
pacesetting leadership
affiliative leadership

Based around the framework of the story outlined above.

more or a few less references can be used.
