You have just been appointed as a junior analyst with a large pension fund. Your manager requested that the analysts investigate four companies on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) on the London Stock Exchange and one bond in any market. The task is typically vague; the intention is to look for potential investments within the chosen sector. These investments should be companies which have ?sound fundamentals? and ?the capacity to realise significant profits? when ?the current market problems are resolved?.
You can use www.northcote.co.uk, www.pro-share, Crawford?s Directory of City Connections (copies in the library) and the Financial Times to identify companies within their sector classifications.
Write a 500 word report on each company and 400 words for the bond making a report of 2,400 words in length. Each company should start with the same letter as your surname or the nearest letter to it.
1. Your report should include the analysis of the; customers, markets, products, profitability, growth and risks of the companies. It is suggested that your report follows the broad format suggested below.

2. A spreadsheet analysis of the company for the last three years using the format available on the NILE site. A full version of the last year?s annual report & accounts must be submitted with your assignment. This means you will have to obtain the last two annual reports & accounts to get three years figures. You should give a spread sheet analysis of the bond you have chosen and a reason why you have decided on your bond.

3. Identify the net asset value per share and the share price and assess whether or not these companies represent an investment opportunity worth pursuing. Show two methods that can be used in finance to value your shares and explain if your shares are overvalued. (15 marks)

4. A small number of referencing errors are made, but all sources are acknowledged in an attempt at following the prescribed format.
