Being a leader custom essay

[meteor_slideshow slideshow=”arp1″]

‘There never were in the world two opinions alike, no more than two hairs or two grains; the most universal quality is diversity.’
—Michel de Montaigne

Not only is it important to get an understanding of your implicit view of the world but it is also important to understand that others you work with and lead may not share the same meaning as you do. One tool that may be useful in understanding different ways of looking at the world is a personality assessment. These assessments are based on positivistic theories that suggest that the way that a person answers the assessment questions is related to certain ways that they may have a propensity to behave. With the ever-increasing trend of globalisation, it would appear that the workplace will continue to become more and more diverse and that this diversity may also be associated with a variety of different ways of making sense of the world. An example of this diversity is depicted in this week’s media.

Leaders will need to be cognizant of individual differences and be able to foster the creation of a shared sense-making in the workplace.

To prepare for this discussion, complete the diagnostic tool, The Big Five Assessment (http://www.outofservice.com/bigfive/, http://test.personality-project.org/ ), to assess your own personality and gain an understanding of similarities and differences in how people make sense of their surroundings. In addition, review this week’s media resource and reflect on how Susan, Mark, and John differed both in their Big 5 results and how they made sense of the situation presented. This information may be useful as a starting point to understanding how to bridge differences to create a shared understanding among people in the workplace.

Reflect on the outcomes of your assessment and then, in a 750–1000 word response, post your responses to the following to the Discussion board by Friday:

•Choose a friend, colleague, or associate and have him or her complete the same questionnaire. Based on your results, compare how you and your friend, colleague or associate might make sense out of a particular conflict situation differently.
•Given these results as well as what you learned from watching this week’s media, how would you describe the relationship between personality types as measured by diagnostics such as The Big 5 and being an effective ‘sense maker’ for your organisation?

Note: I have attached the required reading article and a written version of the audio file.

Thank you

critical and theoretical interpretation custom essay

[meteor_slideshow slideshow=”arp1″]

critical and theoretical interpretation.

Please write a 6-8 page paper (6 is the absolute minimum) covering a critical and/or theoretical topic or topics. This paper involves researching books and academic journal articles. Questions that you might ask to start are: what does this work ?say? about the politics of its time? Does it reinforce or challenge dominant ideologies? Other approaches could be: how would a Feminist read this? A Marxist? What deeper meanings have art historians and scholars uncovered?

Do you have your own ideas about your piece that you can corroborate with other research? Perhaps you might survey the different theories about your work?s meaning….

For your final paper, you may only use TWO websites as sources. Any websites used must have an author or institution, which need to be included in your citations and bibliography. If you are not sure of the credibility of a site, refer to this guide:
https://sheridaninstitute.libguides.com/content.php?pid=206995&sid=1726440
You must also include at least TWO print sources in your bibliography. These can include a book or a journal article. For these it will be helpful to use the library?s databases and search engines.

Please note: The Title Page and the Bibliography are not included in your page count.

Fair Trade/ Free Trade custom essay

[meteor_slideshow slideshow=”arp1″]

Instructions is on PDF, please follow them.

1. Read the book except, “Fair Trade For All” by Stliglitz, J. and A. Charlton (Oxford University
Press, 2005). In no more than 600 words, provide a brief summary of the main arguments of this
article. Be sure to examine whether free trade can be fair, and whether free or fair trade is the
best path to economic growth and development.
2. Examine the following data for three countries. Each of these countries is endowed with the
same 100 units of labor, the only input to production. Pre-trade, their production characteristics
are as follows:
Country 1 could produce either 100 units of commodity Y or 100 units of commodity X, or any
combination of X and Y on its production possibilities curve. The pre-trade exchange rate is 1 to
1.
Country 2 could produce either 60 units of commodity Y or 30 units of commodity X, or any
combination of X and Y on its production possibilities curve. The pre-trade exchange rate is 2 to
1.
Country 3 could produce either 200 units of commodity Y or 200 units of commodity X, or any
combination of X and Y on its production possibilities curve. The pre-trade exchange rate is 1 to
1.
Assume that each country specializes in producing only 1 commodity after trade. They will
specialize in producing the commodity where they have the greatest comparative advantage.
a. If country 2 trades with country 1, show county 2’s gains from trade. (Assume that the posttrade
exchange ratio shifts to 1.5 to 1.) (You need a diagram.)
b. Now assume that country 2 stops trading with country 1 and trades instead with country 3.
Post-trade the exchange ratio adjusts again to 1.5 to 1. Do the benefits of trade to country 2
change from when country 2 traded with country 1? (You need a diagram.)
c. Assume that country 2 keeps trading with country 3. How might the gains from trade in
country 2 change if the post-trade exchange ratio shifted from 1.5 to 1 to 60 to 200 (the ratio of
Y and X produced in the two countries)?

Training project custom essay

[meteor_slideshow slideshow=”arp1″]

This project will explain exactly how you would create a training program. In addition to an introduction, background information about the organization, and the triggering event, your project should include the five phases of the Training Processes Model including the following elements.
This is a group project, and I am the third part. I will provide part 1&2.
3. Development
• What should be included in the program development plan?
• What are the learning objectives?
• What are the learning points?
• What methods will you use?
• What materials will you need?
• Make a training schedule. How long will training take for one group of trainees? What is the optimum number of trainees per class?
• What materials will be included in the Trainee’s Manual?
• What type of facilities will facilitate training? (If it is a real company, what constraints will there be on facilities and how will you deal with those constraints?)
• How should the furniture be set up to facilitate the training best?
• What are the most important KSA’s for the trainer? Do you prefer experience in training or experience with the training topic?
Here are some details about the company situation:

The parent company is The Travel Corporation (www.thetravelcorporation.com), a privately held and family owned. The training project is for Destination America (www.dest-amer.com), one of the company brands that is focused on hosting clients on escorted motor coach vacations in North and South America. A guided vacation is when 45-50 clients spend the length of a vacation (1-2 weeks) with a Tour Director and a driver experiencing different parts of the country. I will bring some brochures on Thursday for you guys to take a look at… While clients interact with many employees over the phone and internet, many times the Tour Director is the only employee they actually see in person and the TD (Tour Director) is responsible for creating the customer experience for their vacation.

The issues: because the TDs are seasonal employees during vacation season only, they have not received any training other than technical product training about the technical nature of the trips. There are 75 of them for the current season and they are spread all over the country. They come together only once a year during the season “kick-off” which is generally scheduled in March of each year. All other interaction during the year is via phone and e-mail with the office in Anaheim, CA. The customer satisfaction ratings of Destination America has traditionally been high (97%), however, repeat passenger numbers are not as high as desired. The cost of new customer acquisitions is high in this industry and therefore the company is moving away from measuring customer satisfaction and instead measuring something called NPS (net promoter score) which measures their tendency to refer the company to a friend or to travel with them again. This will require the TDs to engage on a more personal level with clients and to create an experience wherein they would like to come back again. Communication/interpersonal training has been surfaced as a need…also the desire for them to promote the company more during the vacation vs. just themselves as a fabulous TD to gain greater tips. In addition, the shareholders have launched new product and branding that they want the TDs to integrate in to the customer experience…
