For rhetorical analysis–What is the rhetorical strategy of the speaker? What types of evidence does the speaker use and why? What kind of language and tone does the speaker use? What effect do evidence, language, and tone have on what the speaker is saying?
For genre analysis–What are the features unique to this genre, i.e., this particular kind of communication? How does communicating via the specific genre differ from other genres in providing the information the speaker wants to communicate? Who is the speaker? What is the speaker?s purpose? Who are the audiences? How do all of these things affect the speaker?s strategy in communicating the message?
This is a thesis-driven, argumentative essay ? you must be making and proving about a claim about the rhetorical strategies and influence of the genre on the text.
The Essay must be at least four pages in length.
The Essay must contain a clear thesis statement, explicitly stated in the introduction.
