I have decided to write my seminar paper on International law. International law is becoming more prevalent in the world due to increased globalization. In recent years there has been a significant increase in efforts to address labor conditions and labor rights in the global economy. The beginning of my paper will provide a brief description of the International Labor Organization; provide a brief history on the foundation of the organization and the importance of the organization. The IFO has a central mission and core values and principles that it adheres to, I plan to describe some of the main principles. I will include the important conventions and ratifications that have played major roles in US, as well as other countries around the world. I will describe criticisms of the US ratifications of the IFO. The next section will focus on global trade agreements and trade sanctions in the US and other countries. I will explain NAFTA and the NAALC and their importance for North American trade and the importance of labor laws between the countries involved. Also, I will include the US involvement with the United Nations and the European Union. I would like to emphasize on the labor laws of the countries and what can be enforced when it come to challenging domestic labor laws vs. national labor laws. The last section will focus on globalization and the increase of importance for equal labor laws across nations. Also, I plan to center on what the current national economic conditions of global trading and tariffs.
