Psychology Synesthesia; Summary/Analysis Custom Essay

Throughout chapter 6 (actually all chapters) you will find the authors have cited research studies as supporting evidence for the text content . Choose one of these studies/citations that interest you. Using a research database (you can navigate to these databases via the LRC homepage) locate the primary article Tavris and Wade have cited. If you are not able to locate the specific article, search for one on the topic you have chosen. Your article must be a scholarly article. Please DO NOT use a popular source. After reading the article write a 2 page summary analysis paper. See the following for further clarity on the expectations for this paper.
All papers must be typed and the sources cited in APA format.
A summary/analysis essay consists of three parts. The summary contains two. The third part is your analysis.
**The summary portion of your essay should not include your opinions or evaluations.
In part one of the summary I expect:
• An introduction to the source. This means you will provide the authors name(s), publication,
And date(using APA format).
• An introduction to the topic you will be summarizing-this need only be one sentence.
Part two of the summary paraphrases or condenses the original piece. I expect it to include:
• The authors’ thesis.
• The authors’ main points.
• If the evidence presented in the article supports or refutes the authors’ thesis.
• What part of the material is emphasized or de-emphasized in the article.
• Utilization of at least one of the authors’ examples or illustrations.
• The use of your own words to summarize-not a great many direct quotes from the original text.
Part three is the analysis. This should include your own opinions, interpretations, and evaluations. It may include, though is not limited to:
• Strengths and weaknesses of the article.
• Thesis support-is the thesis clear and support well established.
• Have the conclusions been established by previous authors (studies)-prior evidence?
• Did it appear the research was well conducted (sample size and representation, controls )
• Are the authors conclusions based on personal values, attitudes—how objective does the
Information appear to you?
• Any biases you notice, or degree of objectivity.
• What is your viewpoint-any ideas for further research

Keep your audience in mind. Assume your reader has not read the original text, nor have they taken any prior psychology courses.
