The Book we need to review is "Prosperity and Violence," by Robert Bates, WW Norton.
The book review will be a 5 page, critical review essay, that makes an argument about the logic and evidence
deployed in one of the selected books. Each paper should do the following:
Identify and evaluate the main argument(s) of the book. What is the author’s argument, point, or reason for
writing? Are the significant secondary arguments or is it singular?

The paper should include a strong sense of how the book is a part of comparative politics literature, and the
best papers will incorporate that into their arguments.
Each paper should have a cover sheet, page numbers, and should be proofread, preferably more than once
