Huckleberry Finn Custom Essay

[meteor_slideshow slideshow=”arp1″]

This is a THESIS essay. Here are the instructions/ "…a sound heart is a surer guide than an ill-trained conscience..Huckleberry Finn is a book of mine where a sound heart and a deformed conscience come into collision, and conscience suffers
a defeat" – Mark Twain, lecture notes and notebook #36

First of all, do you agree with Twain? Given the way the book ends, does Huck’s "sound heart" actually and totally defeat and redirect his "ill-trained conscience" or would Twain have been totally correct if the book ended after chapter 31?

For this essay, you will have to successfully show what Twain means about his novel. To do this, you will have to establish how Huck’s "deformed conscience" was developed by examining the society in which he lived. Then, you will have to show how the forces of his "sound heart worked to defeat or failed to defeat his "deformed conscience."

Suggested target sections: Ch.2,5,15,16,17,18,24,31,40, The last.

Philosophy of Engineering Ethics Custom Essay

[meteor_slideshow slideshow=”arp1″]

Phil. 342 (Eng. Ethics) Fall, 2012 Final Exam Dec. 18 Rohatyn

Instructions: Read the description carefully. Check for (missing) details.
Answer each question below, in its entirety.
Type or laser print. Discussions, debates, drafts welcome.
Use any and all relevant sources, with proper citation.

Every year, some 750,000 Americans try to commit suicide; about 30,000
succeed. Of these, about 2% do so by jumping off bridges, skyscrapers
or other tall structures. The Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco is
the most “popular” site for suicide attempts, followed by the Coronado
Bridge in San Diego and the Sunshine Skyway in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Suicide is the third leading cause of death in the United States; about
11 out of every 100,000 people commit suicide each year, almost double
(1.7 times) the murder rate. In addition, many people die each year in
fatal bridge accidents, which result from plunging through a guard rail
into the water below. These are usually unintentional deaths, although
in some cases they trigger suicide attempts, as drivers and passengers
react to severe injuries, trauma, and awareness of their circumstances.
Some drivers try to kill themselves after killing (or hurting) someone
else, or in some instances, drive their vehicles off the bridge or the
skyway after recognizing the occupants of another vehicle, or after an
encounter with a loved one inside another car, truck, bus or RV. Such
actions pose an obvious hazard to motorists and pedestrians in general.

1. What (if anything) should engineers do to prevent or discourage
such actions? Is it their moral responsibility to do it, or merely
a scientific matter of managing and maintaining rapid traffic flow?

2. How much will suicide prevention devices or procedures cost, and
how effective are they? Is the result justified, or worth the price?
How will you sell the idea to taxpayers, voters and public officials?

3. Suppose the suicide rate increases, despite elaborate precautions.
Will that change your logic, your views, or your professional conduct?

Fahrenheit 451 Custom Essay

[meteor_slideshow slideshow=”arp1″]

Fahrenheit 451 research paper
Your cluminating assignment this semester is a research paper based upon the novel Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. However, before you can begin this paper you must engage in field research to accumulate data necessary for the paper. It is bradbury’s contention that many critics have misinterpreted this novel. It is not a novel about government censorship, nor was it written in response to Senator Joseph McCarthy. Rather, Bradbury contends, it is a novel about a culture living in an industrialized country surrounded by technology and abrogating its reponsibilities toward life. Bradbury felt that television was destorying our ability to thhink critically. We were, and still are, being misled by a medium that delivers everything to us in ”factoids.” What is important is being given to us in sound bites with no meat to message. Is Bradbury correct? Are we in fact our own worst enemies for allowing the media to behave in this way, or are there other conspiratorial forces controlled by the government subtlety taking control of our lives one Step at a time and we are unwitting victims?

Observations; the first step you must take is to critically ovserve those segments of society with which you come in contact. Two or three observations should be sufficient. What do your observations reveal to you regarding those you have observed in relationship to technology? Is there a substantial buy in to what technology has to offer; would they live complete lives without it, or would they be lost with no ideasto guide them? These are not the only thingsyou need concentrate on, but they can be usedas a beginning point.

Surves; Once you have completed your observations, create a survey of no more than ten questions in which can begin to more accurately measure the place of technology in society’s life today. Your observations may be of help in crafting your questions since they may have already touched a responsive ord as to your beliefs regarding modern society and technology.

Internet:
Next, you may now go to the internet for validation of your findings. Do not depend on the internet as a primary source to guide your paper that should be the function of your field research. What you have found is important and should form the centerpiece of the paper. The data which you find on the internet should now provide further support to your findings.

Finally, your paper shoul reflect your thesis along with the appropriate support necessary to prove your thesis. Please be sure when you turn your paper in that you have included the raw data you collected in the beginning: Observations( I take over this part) and surveys samples( just the samples)
