Persuasive Interview (Guide and schedule) Custom Essay

[meteor_slideshow slideshow=”arp1″]

–I talked to my partner what are some of the needs he is looking for in a year or so. He gave me two options: He said he will look for jobs and if he gets a job he will definitely get a car. The car he wants to get is Honda around price range of US dollar 30,000 to 40,000.However, he also said he might apply for business master degree. He told me NYU has the top business school but he will only go there if they provide full scholarship. so these are the two options to persuade him, either HONDA Car or go to NYU with full scholarship offering.
— I order five pages, the first page is for creating a visual aid. so if you chose Honda car as the option to persuade him you might need to do some research comparing Honda with few other brands and do a visual aid. OR if you Choose to persuade him to go to NYU which has the top business program with full scholarship offering you might need to do some research and compare NYU with other schools that also has good business program and may also provide full scholarship program. VISUAL AID doesnt have to be fancy and colorful simply creating it using word document.
— the second page is the guide which also means outline(no questions should be included),
–A guide (Basically its an outline) doesn’t include questions just TOPICS AND SUBTOPICS.
–then the rest of the pages are for the schedule( here is the part where you write questions to be asked)
–A schedule includes questions that will be asked during interview. (make sure to include primary and probing questions…..also include more open-ended questions than close-ended questions) *(make necessary adjustments for these types of questions….because for our previous interview such as informational interview and employment interview ,our professors wants us to have primary questions and probing questions and have more open-ended questions that close-ended questions, However, she didint really specify which types of questions we need to use for this interview and i absolutely have not conducted any persuasive interview so i really dont know what type of questions to use)
——————–I will also send six documents in my personalized order tracking area :The FIRST document is the overview of the persuasive interview( the file that says persuasive interview grading rubric). Just read the part that says “For R”. These are the things that professors are looking for in this interview. ALSO,Please include a brief short paragraph of opening and closing on the outline page…….The SECOND document( the file that says options for persuasive interview) is just for you to choose ONE of the options (optionA and Option B on the first two slides) for constructing this interview depending on which options you choose ( the option i said earlier :car or NYU) ……….The THIRD document(the file the says option A and B) is the SAME as the second document but might be more detailed so please take a look at that………The FOURTH document ( the file that says the closing) is just showing us how we should close a persuasive interview. so MAYBE take this into account when you write the closing. The FIFTH document(the file that says student generated cases for persuasive interview) is just something for you to look at what cases other students generated, some people decide to persuade other into buying insurance. YOU DONT have to write up cases.
— Also its a ten minutes long questions so the professors want us to make sure we have enough questions—————————————————————————– Also, I dont think you need to cite any source besides you might take some information off car website or school website.———————-
Thanks!! hope the descriptions above are clear, if not contact me or email me.
—————————————————————-also, i am a non-native speaker, so try not to include complicated sentences or vocabularies. MAYBE level in between non-native speaker and native-speaker. ( I will also include my previous interview guide and schedule to show you the format and the language style)

Sara

Her beliefs all work together because she lives in a country where other cultures ands languages have been accepted and have influenced each for years because of the close proximity together, but at the same time she loves her own culture but encourages others to learn more about other peoples beliefs . Sara likes how media can have a positive influence on society with bringing information to more people, and can bring and another side to a story so it is not as biset. But is aware that media only shows you what they want you to see, to the benefits of cooperation’s or governments, so it is fitting that she always questions the government and what they are doing and finds alternative forums of media through blogs and other things. So there are really any contradictions.

Freddy

Is very traditional and is a little bit zealous with his beliefs, that women should be in home and men should have the high power jobs, and make the decisions, he xenophobic when it comes to other cultures and is afraid that outside influences will completely take over his. How he believes that his religion is the only true one and the right is very fitting with his charter. But he does not contradict himself because he is very definite with his beliefs in religion, politics, langue and that media should be strongly censored by government, so that in his views young people stay innocent.

Stuart

Is very in tune with nature and his beliefs follow closely, he likes that technology has come in to his culture and opened to new things, but at the same time he is concerned with the fact that it might take over his way of life and that people might not carry on with how their beliefs on passed on.

3) Exchange your three BABS with a classmate or have a friend look them over. Ask them to assess the belief systems outlined in each. Did your classmate or friend find any contradictions or inconsistencies in the belief system of your creations?

Sara

Their was a not really any contradictions because she was open to new cultures and looked at them as a way to learn and enjoy new things, felt media and the government control what they want us to see, and works toward human rights and making the world better for all.

Freddy

Is very definite on all of his stances that there are different classes of citizens and that they should be treated accordingly with less rights, and that women should stay at home. He feels that the country should just look out for them and be concerned about their stance in the world. And all views work together.

Stuart

His views all fit together he is very in tune with nature and being close it his cares about all people, and preserving the earth.

4) Based on their belief systems, how do you think each of your BABS would respond to the following hypothetical headlines? In the space below, write a one or two sentence response for each of your BABS.
Headline BAB 1 Response BAB 2 Response BAB 3 Response
New Government Program will Require Immigrant Women to Learn Language and Job Skills
She might be happy with this because it could people that move to a new country a better chance. He would not like this because he feels jobs should be left to men and women should take care of the home. He might not like this because it could be imposing that country’s beliefs and thoughts on to others.
Environment Minister O.K.’s Drilling for Oil in National Parks
She would probably be unhappy with his because she cares about conserving the world. He would be thrilled with this because he feels that you should do whatever it takes to create more money for the country to have a better standing in the world. He would be very upset that company’s are coming into a previously protected forests and exploiting the earth, for money.
Military Gearing Up for Possible “Liberation Operations”
She would like this because she cares about other country’s and the world becoming a freer place for all people. He might think that it is a waste of money and resources to help other country’s. And that his country’s should just look out for itself. If other people are in trouble then he feels that they should be helped, and areas should be defended.
New Law will Restrict Voting Rights: Only Those with Post-Secondary Degrees will Have the Vote
She would be horrified with this law because all people being equally is very important to her, and feels power does not belong in the hands of the few. He would be very happy, he is not trusting that the population can make correct choices, that if only some could vote it would be better. He would be upset that people do not get a chance to have their voices heard.
5) Which of the stories do you think would be of most interest/conc
ern to each BABS? What factors in their belief system would be driving that concern?

Sara

Might be vary interested in the new government

National Borders Matter: Canada-U.S. Regional Trade Patterns, American Economic Review Custom Essay

STATA

McCallum, J. “National Borders Matter: Canada-U.S. Regional Trade Patterns, American Economic Review, 85(3), 1995
On blackboard, you will find the replication dataset.
• On the first tab, you will find the total income (GDP) of each US state and Canadian Province
• On the second tab, you will find pairwise distances between each state and/or province
• On the third tab, you will find pairwise shipments (i.e., trade) between each state and/or province.
• One the fourth tab, you will find indicator variable for whether a region is a state or province.
The first task will be to input these data into a working dataset in STATA. Access to STATA is available at the SSIL lab in McKenzie hall.
Here are a few helpful commands to get you started.
– insheet using name.xls.
(This will input an excel spreadsheet into the STATA data editor)
– cross using other.dta
(This will create all pairwise combinations of the master file currently in the STATA data editor, and another file called other.dta. )
– merge m:1 using file.dta
(This command will merge your master data file with the ‘using’ dataset called file.dta. Note that the part of the command m:1 indicates that that you are merging ‘many to one’. Depending on how you construct your data set you may need to write m:m for a many-to-many observation merge, or 1:m for a one-to-many observation merge)
• outreg using table.doc, append
(After you have run a regression, this command will spit out that table into a word document. The append option after the comment allows you to append a table with additional columns that correspond to different specifications.)
Your goal is to estimate the gravity model specification in Table 1, Columns (1)-(4) in the McCallum paper, and provide a write up of the analysis to turn in no later than December 1.
Your write up of the replication should include
• A short introduction that motivates the estimation of a gravity model and the impact of national borders on trade. Be clear to explain why the US-Canada border is of particular interest in this context.
• A section that clearly details your empirical strategy. That is, you need to write out what the exact specification that your are running and define all variables. Also make predictions about what coefficients you expect to find, if any.
• A short section that interprets the border dummy, and a discussion of why you think the border effect is estimated to be so large.
Finally, you will need to turn in a .do file from STATA that describes exactly how you took the raw data from excel to a STATA data file format, and shows exactly the commands you used to replicate McCallum’s table 1
For the Fall 2013 term of EC 481 you will be required to complete a replication of John McCallum’s border puzzle in a gravity trade model.
