In Weeks 1?4, you will submit a Field Notes assignment that addresses a topic or theme related to exploring your own indigenous identity. The Field Notes assignments are your method for compiling and interpreting the information that you will synthesize in the Final Project.
An ethnographic study often consists of participant observation of a culture or group along with other investigations. There are numerous other techniques and types of information that can be gathered, such as life stories, genealogy, and cultural history (see Thinking Like an Anthropologist, pp. 71?72, for a full list). For the Field Notes portion of this course, you will treat your own indigenous identity as the subject of an ethnographic study.
An anthropologist’s Field Notes may contain notes, descriptions, drawings, analysis, and reflection.
However, for the purposes of the Field Notes assignments in this course, you will be required to submit finished papers that adhere to high academic literacy standards.

One of the most important stories shared by a community is the story of its beginning. Creation stories help a people place themselves within the larger context of the world?they often explain the origin of the Earth and a peoples’ unique place within it. More universally, creation stories also seek to clarify the as-yet unclear origin of human consciousness. In this week’s Field Notes, you will examine a creation story from your own indigenous identity and compare it with another creation story.

To prepare for this assignment:
Review the assigned chapters in Thinking Like An Anthropologist.
Identify a creation story associated with your indigenous identity.
Identify a second creation story, either found in the Learning Resources, online, or from further back in your heritage. (If you have difficulty finding a creation story from your own indigenous identity, visit “Universal Myths and Mysterious Places,” found in the Optional Resources.)
Compare and contrast the two creation stories and reflect upon what keeps these stories alive and meaningful over time.

Compose a 1- to 2-page paper in which you do the following:

o Compare the two creation stories that you have identified, noting common themes and universal elements. The two creation story I chose was about the Code Talkers. And the boy who cried wolf.
o Be sure to describe how rituals, key symbols, and metaphors sustain your culture’s story or stories.

This is very good, but one thing is puzzling. You refer to “I” taking field notes and then credit the information to someone else. Do you mean that you took notes on that person’s writing? That’s not the same as field notes, which are observations you make directly.

QANTAS’S no-frills subsidiary, Jetstar, has come under the scrutiny of the aviation safety regulator over aircraft maintenance, adding to the sense of crisis in Australian aviation after the grounding of Tiger Airways.
The Civil Aviation Safety Authority will check the rigour of Jetstar’s maintenance systems and processes, after finding out planes were not fully serviced to schedule.
Jetstar hurriedly pulled four Airbus A320s from service on Thursday night to attend to overlooked and overdue maintenance.

Yesterday Jetstar admitted to an ”administrative issue” with its aircraft servicing. It had informed the safety regulator of its mistakes.
”We have robust safety procedures in place and as part of this identified some routine maintenance tasks that should have been completed within specific time limits,” a spokeswoman, Andrea Wait, said.
”As soon as the administrative issue was identified it was rectified and none of the tasks were safety significant [sic].
”There was no risk to the safety of the aircraft.”
The belated service items included testing emergency light batteries, sampling hydraulic fluid and lubrication of door switches, she said.
Separately, the Herald has been reliably told that there is one Jetstar Airbus on the tarmac in Christchurch that will be tested for volcanic ash contamination after a white powdery substance was found on leading edges of engine compressor fan blades.
On the maintenance front, the Herald has been told Jetstar’s computer tracks aircraft components in two distinct ways: components that need servicing by flying hours, and those that need servicing by date intervals.
But airline staff only realised late on Thursday afternoon that they had only been looking at the service items by flying hours, and had overlooked those by date intervals.
It is not known how long this had gone on.
The Civil Aviation Safety Authority will now examine Jetstar’s system.
”We will look carefully at what they’ve done and to make sure their systems are robust and operating correctly,” a spokesman for the authority, Peter Gibson, said.
The vice-president of the Australian and International Pilots Association, Richard Woodward, said he hoped the lapse was ”not a genuine oversight regarding engineering of an aeroplane”.
”We cannot afford that – the risk is too high,” he said.
Meanwhile, TIGER Airways Australia’s new chief executive says the grounded airline is focusing on a fresh start and will have a long-term future in Australia.
Tony Davis, brought in from the airline’s Singapore-based parent, said he was conducting a comprehensive review of the Australian operation.
With Tiger now grounded for a month by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority, Mr Davis said the airline was working to tackle the regulator’s safety concerns.
Mr Davis was CEO of Tiger Airways Holdings but took over as CEO of the Australian company from Wednesday night. He replaced Crawford Rix, who Tiger announced was leaving the company after CASA extended its grounding

The story I read was on Denverpost.com. The article was titled ?Denver Mayor Michael Hancock?s first 100 days successful, mostly? and was written by Jeremy P. Meyer.
The article makes claims that Mayor Hancock has kept pace with the goals he set during the final stages of his campaign as he was in the lead.
I believe that Mayor Hancock has made a great deal of progress during these first 100 days in office. Despite the progress gained so far there are still many issues facing Denver that the new Mayor will need to address.
I have followed the progress of Mayor Hancock during campaign and am interested to see this new Mayor continue to make positive improvements in Denver.
This author is not a political expert however he does quote several political analysts in the article.
I feel that this author is unbiased and trustworthy. The article is written with good information and sources. There does not appear to be any judgments just information.

Warehouse process design In Relation To My Course of Study.
Operation Management is a course that deals with the design and management of products, processes, services and supply chains (Stevenson, 2008, pp. 3 ). On the other hand, the warehouse process design is the process by which inventories received into the warehouse gets put into the warehouse for storage, sorted, grading, blending and finally packaged in the warehouse. The warehouse process design may be of great interest to me as it goes hand in hand with the key aspects I am supposed to have learned by the end of the course.
Ordering, Shipping and Receiving.
Before making orders, the warehouse must have space to accommodate the goods. Proper arrangements must be done to avoid last minute rush on where to keep the coming cargos. Maintenance of the structure and the surrounding environment must be carried out regularly and also measures taken to avoid damage to goods stored.
On shipping and receiving of goods, the warehouse must have a record of every goods entering the building and well detailed information concerning the particular goods. Preparation should be done to ensure the certainty of the goods can easily be determined. This may happen mainly in a public warehouse where the process is commercialized in all aspects. Arrangements for booking must be done early enough and space preserved for clients.
