Environmental and Genetic Impact on Fetal Development custom essay

[pewslideshow slidename=anim2]

Both environmental and genetic influences impact fetal development. Some substances (e.g., folic acid, hormones, etc.) have the biggest influence at sensitive periods during gestation. Early in gestation when neurological development is at its peak, folic acid is most important. Hormones, such as androgen and estrogen, are necessary for external genital differentiation between 9 and 12 weeks of gestation. Prenatal alcohol exposure, however, can impact fetal growth at any time during gestation. On the other hand, environmental influences such as maternal genetics, nutrition, health, and immunization can have a positive impact on fetal development, mitigating the impact of substances and other negative influences. In addition to environmental influences, you must also consider the impact of genetic influences. Genes determine not only an individual?s physical features at birth?they also contribute to hormonal processes throughout the lifespan. The interaction of environmental influences and genetic influences impacts the development of a fetus.

To prepare for this paper, select two genetic influences and two environmental influences on fetal development and think about how these influences might impact each other

[pewslideshow slidename=anim2]

EQUITY BANK- Please look at first attachment to see this in correct format and with table.
For Module 4, consider your organization’s mission and strategy from the perspective of its learning and growth (from your work on the case, your previous course work, and your background reading, you should be reasonably clear what such activities are). In this section of the assignment you?ll begin to identify objectives and measures relevant to that perspective. Refer back to this presentation on objectives if you need to.
Assignment Expectations:
Once you’re reasonably clear on what’s involved, think about your organization and its learning and growth processes, and then:
? Identify at least three objectives for improving the organization’s learning and growth, and show how they relate to the mission, vision and strategy of the organization.
? For each objective, develop at least one meaningful performance measure (metric).
? For each objective, identify at least one expected level of performance (target).
? For each objective, identify at least one new action or program that needs to be developed to ensure successful implementation of the organization’s strategy (initiative).
? Comment briefly on the relationships of the learning and growth objectives that you’ve identified here to the financial objectives that you identified in the Module 1 SLP assignment, the customer service objectives you identified in Module 2, and/or the internal business process objectives you identified in Module 3. How do they help to fulfill those objectives? If they don’t (and they don’t have to), what makes them more important than objectives that would relate to customer service, business processes, or financial operations?
? Finally, do you wish to make any changes to your Module 1, 2, or 3 objective write-ups in light of your Module 4 experience?
Here?s a table that you may wish to copy and fill in (the boxes are expandable – take all the space you need to be complete in your descriptions. No more than 2 pages should be necessary.)

Suggested improvements for Rainbow Lighting Ltd custom essay

[pewslideshow slidename=anim2]

Rainbow Lighting Ltd manufactures a wide variety of light bulbs which it sells to lighting shops and builders merchants through wholesale distributors. It also sells direct to the big UK supermarkets. It is situated in a small town a few miles from the city of Newcastle in the north-east of England where it has been making light bulbs for domestic use for more than 40 years. Five years ago, it diversified into bulbs for industrial lighting, using its wholesale distributors, in an attempt to grow its revenue. It currently employs 550 people and has an annual turnover of £125 million, making it the fifth largest producer of light bulbs in the UK.

Just over six months ago, it was taken over by a multinational electrical products company, Eindnacht GmbH, based in Germany. Since then, the new owner has been reviewing the operations of its UK acquisition. Last week, the managing director of Rainbow Lighting received a confidential report from its parent company detailing the review?s findings. In summary, most comments were critical and highlighted areas where Rainbow?s performance has been declining. In conclusion, Eindnacht has given them two years in which to demonstrate a significant improvement in performance. If this does not happen, the manufacturing will be transferred to other Eindhacht factories in mainland Europe.

The managing director, Harriet Thompson, summoned her fellow directors yesterday to an extraordinary management meeting to discuss the report and the demands made by their new owners.

Organizational structure of Rainbow Lighting Ltd

-G.E. Rayner Logistics Director
-D. Dell Human Resources Director

Summary of Eindnacht?s report on Rainbow Lighting Ltd

Products

Rainbow Lighting serves two distinct lightbulb market segments, domestic and industrial. No new products have been launched in either sector in the last two years. Twelve years ago, in response to a growing market, the ?Alpha? range of 20 different low-energy long-life domestic bulbs was introduced. A significant investment in new plant and machinery was made to produce this range. The traditional tungsten filament light bulbs were phased out over two years from the introduction of the alpha range which now accounts for 100% of domestic bulb production. The ?Beta? range of industrial bulbs was introduced five years ago in an attempt to achieve increased sales and profits. There are now 154 different bulbs in this range.

Production

On the basis of ?number of bulbs produced?, the alpha and beta ranges account for 73% and 27% of production respectively. Production facilities are used Mondays to Fridays from 08.00 to 17.00 with operatives allowed a morning and afternoon break of 15 minutes each and a one-hour lunch break. The factory is closed for five weeks each year during which holidays must be taken.

The last new product, the ?Everlasting Halogen Spotlight (EHS) bulb, aimed at the industrial security sector, was launched by Rainbow Lighting just over two years ago. Unfortunately, due to a manufacturing fault, the EHS was prone to overheating and had high failure rate. On several occasions, the EHS exploded causing potential physical danger to anyone in the vicinity at the time. Fortunately, only one serious injury occurred and a damaging legal case was only avoided by a significant out-of-court settlement being made to the injured person. Although much negative publicity was avoided, negative rumours concerning product safety circulated in the industry. A product recall had to be performed and the EHS production process had to be redesigned to correct the fault. This resulted in a five-month gap before the EHS was re-launched. It is estimated that this and the attendant bad publicity caused a 5% fall in annual sales revenue from the beta range for that year in addition to the very significant cost of the recall operation.

Marketing and sales

It is estimated that the domestic bulb market is worth approximately three times as much as the industrial bulb market.

Domestic: Apart form the last year, spending on advertising and promotion has shown very little variation in monetary terms (indicating a reduced spend in real terms). During this period, sales volumes have increased by an average of 2% a year. However, the market size of low-energy long-life domestic bulbs has increased by 8% a year on average over the same period. Selling price increases have generally matched general inflation at around 2% a year except for an increase of 5% two years ago in an attempt to boost revenue. Superficial changes and new packaging were introduced at this point in an attempt to reposition the alpha bulbs. Unfortunately, this strategy does not seem to have worked; the loss in volume caused by the price increase appears to have countered the extra revenue gained from higher prices in an increasingly competitive market.

Industrial: During the first three years of its life, the ?Beta? range of industrial bulbs approximately doubled its sales each year until the EHS recall. Due to an increased spend on advertising and promotion, sales have now recovered to the level immediately prior to this incident. For the last decade or so, this market sector has increased by about 3% a year.

The Contribution the solidarities of the Mexico Plan of Action and Responsibility Sharing in the European Union. custom essay

[pewslideshow slidename=anim2]

1. What is your general topic?
2. What questions do you want to answer?
3. What is the key literature and its limitations?
4. What are the main hypotheses of the work?
5. What methodology do you intend to use? What are your case studies, if any?
6. What are the limitations of your proposed research?
7. Why do you want to spend four years on this particular topic?
8. What is particularly interesting about it? Is it a new topic? A much researched topic which requires a new approach?
9. Why, in your view, your proposed work will make a significant and original contribution to the field?

In 2010, the United Nations High Commission for Refugees advised that over 800,000 refugees will require resettlement in the long-term. The research will examine how the burden sharing approach can contribute to the protection of refugees, and how the 3 solidarities presented in the Mexico Plan of Action can be applied as a responsibility sharing model for asylum seekers in the European Union.

Some information
Mexico Plan of Action
The MPA was planned to answer especially the humanitarian needs of people that flee from the violence in Colombia and includes an exhausting program to evaluate the refugee’s needs and those of local host communities, especially in border areas of neighbouring countries, considering complementary humanitarian activities and the orientations for development. Considering all the above, three programmes were proposed: self-sufficiency and a local integration program called Solidarity Cities; an integral program called Borders of Solidarity; and the regional program named Solidarity Resettlement.
The programme Solidarity Cities intends to avoid, as far as possible, the so-called irregular or secondary movements and intend, overall, to offer more effective protection that encompasses the refugee’s rights and social duties, economic and cultural. This program aims to ease the execution of public policy, under a social integral strategy, with financial aid from the international community and in collaboration with the United Nations and civil society.
The program Borders of Solidarity which indicated ignorance of the size of the issue on the borders with Ecuador, Panam? and Venezuela with Colombia, since the 10,000 refugees and the 30,000 asylum seekers would represent, at the time, only a fraction of the total of Colombian citizens that would transit through or reside in these countries. These displaced, in most part, remained invisible, or in other words, in irregular migratory conditions.
The regional program Solidarity Resettlement consists of regional resettlement for Latin American refugees, based on principles of international solidarity and responsibility-sharing. This opens the possibility for any Latin American country, the moment it finds it appropriate, to receive refugees that find themselves in other countries of the region, and aims at lowering the impact of the humanitarian situation. The MPA text emphasises that resettlement and other durable solution in the region should not be seen as a collective responsibility, but as a demonstration of international solidarity.
European Union
The Dublin system systemically blocked a fair burden-sharing. This system has been shown to stabilize an inequitable distribution of protection seekers between Member States and to unfairly penalize countries at the border of the community. It could easily intensify repressive measures by those countries and lead to an unequal distribution of burden between EU Member States. It eventually may endanger the willingness of Member States to fully comply with their duties under the Dublin II Regulation. Further funds may be allocated to alleviate the particular financial burdens of these border states. On the other hand, if asylum were considered not only as a national responsibility but as an EU responsibility, it would seem logical to develop concepts for creating more solidarity within the EU.
