Using Gerald Graff and Cathy Berkenstein’s “They Say” Custom Essay

[meteor_slideshow slideshow=”arp1″]

Using Gerald Graff and Cathy Berkenstein’s “they say _____, I say _____” template, write a 3-5 page argumentative essay in response to one of the following assigned readings:

http://www.mediafire.com/view/4ib6w2f3e121dxd/They_SayI_Say.pdf

1. Caroline Bird, “College Is a Waste of Time and Money”

2. Brent Staples, “Why Colleges Shower Their Students with A’s”

3. Nicholas Carr, “Is Google Making Us Stupid?”

4. Alfred North Whitehead, “The Rhythmic Claims of Freedom and Discipline”

Remember, Graff and Berkenstein’s template does not have to be reproduced word-for-word. Rather, “they say _____, I say _____” functions as a basic structure for academic writing.

For questions on homework submission, MLA formatting and citations, or plagiarism, refer to page 5 of the syllabus entitled “Policies.”

Reading Response Stalin: Explores some aspect of how Stalin’s biography does or does not help to explain the phenomenon of Stalinism Custom Essay

[meteor_slideshow slideshow=”arp1″]

Write an essay of 2-3 pages in length (1 ½ pages does not equal 2, and your grade will be reduced proportionally!) that explores some aspect of how Stalin’s biography does or does not help to explain the phenomenon of Stalinism. NOTE: This is NOT a book review. For this essay, I do not care if you like the book, find it well-written, engaging, or any other conclusion that would be appropriate in a published book review. In addition (and not counted as part of your 2-3 pages), you should provide an outline of your essay as discussed below.

Many past authors have engaged in a psychological analysis of Stalin, explaining his rule through beatings at the hands of his father, an inferiority complex based on physical characteristics, paranoia, or other aspects of his personal biography. In Stalin: Profiles in Power, Hiroaki Kuromiya takes a different biographical approach focusing on Stalin as a politician. According to Kuromiya, Stalin’s personal feelings were irrelevant, as he subordinated all to political considerations. Your job is to choose one big question that you find important to answer in order to understand Stalinism, explore how Kuromiya answers that question, how other more personal biographical details might answer the question, and to evaluate how you think the question would be best answered. You are not necessarily trying to answer the big question, as you are not yet in a position to have enough information to do so. Rather, you are exploring different approaches one would take to answer that question.

Your essay should have a paragraph that introduces your big question and provides a thesis statement (a one-sentence answer to the question of how best to answer the big question). The body of your essay then details Kuromiya’s approach, other possible biographical approaches, the strengths and shortcomings of these different approaches, and your opinion on the best approach to answer the big question. You should draw specific evidence from the pages of Kuromiya’s Stalin biography. The conclusion sums up earlier points and gives the significance of the information. You may also make use of any other readings done for this class, lectures, and films. You may use one textbook source to fill in details of historical context where necessary. You MAY NOT use other sources whether published or from the internet.

Re-read your essays for grammar and spelling. Essays with more than four spelling mistakes will be returned without a grade for resubmission. Please type and double-space the essays with margins no greater than 1 ¼ inches using Times New Roman font. The essays are due before class begins on September 11.

If you include short quotes or paraphrases, please cite the source—including quotes or paraphrases from your lecture notes. You may use any standard citation format. A bibliography is not necessary, but be certain that you provide a full citation for your textbook source if you choose to use one.

Task Case Study: Two patients medical symptom case study Custom Essay

[meteor_slideshow slideshow=”arp1″]

Choose two patients you have cared for and present their presenting problems, diagnostic tests, treatment, diagnosis and outcome in the form of a case study.
Within each case study I want an in depth discussion on the pathophysiology of the patient’s presenting problems and their diagnosis and how their treatment has altered their pathophysiological responses.
Included in this should be all relevant blood results with an explanation of why they were taken and what their results mean.
As well as all ECG performed with an interpretation of what the ECG shows.

Hints and Tips to Writing Your Assignment.

The introduction of your assignment should introduce the assignment and what it is that is going to be covered. For this assignment I would expect this to include an introduction of your patient, who they are and what they have presented with in a nut shell.

E.g. This assignment will focus on two patients the first being Mrs Jones who presented with chest pain and the second being Mr Smith who had been unwell with shortness of breath for the past two weeks.

You then need to mention in the introduction what you will be discussing in relation to their presentation, diagnostic tests, diagnosis and their treatment.

In the body of your assignment I am very happy and encourage you to use headings, and point form as long as this is appropriate and the bullets points are explained if this is required.

The conclusion of your assignment is a wrap up of what you have already spoken about, you do not introduce any new information but recap what you have said in a brief and succinct way.
