For this Application, you will prepare a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation (10–25 slides with speaker notes) providing an overview of your Practicum Project. The presentation should include a review of how you implemented the Practicum Project objectives, an evaluation of the implementation and outcomes. This presentation should be at the graduate level with graphics, illustrations, and correct formatting/design, and is due by Day 7 of Week 6.
Instructions
In a 10- to 25-slide PowerPoint presentation, you will:
Provide a summary of the Practicum Project topic, goals, objectives and rationale
Provide a summary of the Practicum Project methodology
Evaluate the Practicum Project outcomes in terms of utility and potential for impact within your professional specialty and your organization’s environment
Clearly describe any scholarly product(s) developed during the practicum experience.
Attach any related documents, scholarly products or summary documents created.
Write detailed speaker notes for each slide to augment the slide content. Speaker notes should be clear, in-depth, and function as augmentation of the slide material. Write the speaker notes to the depth that would allow someone else to step in and give the presentation for you.
Present a graduate-level PowerPoint presentation with background, graphics, font, and an appropriate number of slides based on standards established for professional PowerPoint presentations
A bibliography must be included that reflects a minimum of five scholarly resources.
Additional Guidance for the PowerPoint Presentation
Your PowerPoint should appear as a professional presentation. The physical aspects are important, and should include crisp, organized, neat and appealing slides, prepared with thought and creativity. It is not necessary to include a lot of photos or heavy graphics, since these increases download times, but a few are fine. Plain white and black slides are not what you would use for a real presentation and are boring to the audience, so use your creativity.
The cover slide should state the name of your practicum project, date, Walden University, course number, and your name. Your faculty member’s name does not appear there, as this is your presentation. Each slide should have a title and then either bulleted concise phrases or whatever content will appear. Untitled slides are confusing. Slides that are too crowded with too many words are hard to read.
Include a summary slide that closes, concludes, and synthesizes your presentation and experience properly. This is often left out, and counts towards your points. Presentations need an introduction, and a closing slide for proper framing. Saying good-bye is not sufficient; closure means analysis and a proper ending. The reference slide follows this, and must be formatted according to APA.
Please include real examples of the products of your practicum. You may use screen shots, or scan in examples, but demonstrate what you have accomplished in a format as close to the real thing as possible. You should use several slides for this, and then provide the details in the speaker notes that explain what we are looking at. It is okay if you go somewhat over the number of maximum number of slides. Points will be lost if detailed actual samples of the scholarly products are not included. Here are a few examples: if you completed a survey, include it with the results; if you designed a course, include the syllabus and some lesson plans; if you created a design for a patient portal, include screen captures. Provide evidence of your accomplishments.
Note: If applicable to your project, you may choose to present your project using media-types other than PowerPoint that you prepared as part of your practicum and that are representative of your practicum project. Your media-based presentation must be accessible to the course faculty and your classmates through the course assignment submission link and Doc Sharing. All presentations must include must include explanatory text similar to the PowerPoint speaker notes.
