Ethnic Conflict: The Greek and Turkish Cypriot Conflict Custom Essay

[meteor_slideshow slideshow=”arp1″]

For this research paper, please discuss the ‘conflict resolution process’ that took place (and is still taking place) between the Greek and Turkish Cypriot nationals, as a result of the on-going Cypriot conflict.

The working thesis of the paper is: Although there may have been several attempts at conflict resolution between the two ethnic groups, the Greek Cypriots are typically the ones who halt any successful resolution attempts; usually out of their resentment for the Turkish Cypriots.

This is meant to be an ARGUEMENTATIVE research paper, Hence I would kindly ask that throughout the paper you argue (using evidence) that it is the Greek Cypriot side that seems to be stalling the conflict resolution talks (due to certain factors – please use BOTH internal and external factors, which will become evident when you search for the 7 required sources). These internal and external factors should be discussed in the 2-3 of the body paragraphs.

A main/crucial part of this paper is that it MUST be based on a THEORY. The theory I would kindly require you to use is “Modern System Theory” by Niklas Luhmann. The core element of his theory is communication.

For the 7 resources, PLEASE DO NOT use “.com” websites, and ONLY USE academic/scholarly journal articles, found on databases such as JSTOR and EBSCO.

I will be attaching two documents to this order that I would require you to use. One of the documents is a rough outline of how the paper COULD be structured, but please DO NOT rely mainly on the outline, it is merely a reference point.

The second, is source that I would like you to use for this paper as it relates to my topic. It is a book chapter titled “Cyprus”. On page 69 of the of the “Cyprus” source, you will find several suggested scholarly sources you may want to use. Again, I do not want just any source from any website, they MUST be academic articles found in scholarly journals. Also, at the end of this order description I will paste a url link of a source that I would also like you to please use. Therefore, I have provided you with 2 sources, please kindly search for the remaining 5 on your own. Again, page 69 of the attached source you will find some suggestions.

IN-TEXT MLA citations and a works cited page are also require please. The paper must have in-text citations; meaning you must cite any source you use within the actual paper and not only on the works cited paper. For example, the in-text citation for the source I will be attaching would be cited in-text as (Carter and Irani, 2009). Hence you must in-text cite using the author(s) late name, and date of publication.

For the introduction of the paper, briefly explain the history of the Cypriot conflict, starting with the Ottoman conquest of Cyprus and then the British rule. Please mention briefly how they differed for each other, politically and socially and whether that had an hand in how the Cypriot conflict would manifest. This section should be no more than 2 paragraphs.

Also in introduction, please provide a description of Niklas Luhmann’s Modern System Theory, and how you plan on using it in the paper. In addition, please elaborate on his theory’s core element of communication. This section should also be no more the 2 paragraphs maximum.

For the body paragraphs, please focus on the different aspects of the Cypriot conflict that eventually lead to or caused the unsuccessful resolution processes. You will find some examples in the rough outline that I will be attaching. But again, the paper is meant to be ARGUEMENTATIVE, so please do not forget that while discussing these varied aspects of the conflict, you must argue the thesis. Also, do not forget to emphasize the role of the “modern system theory” in these aspects.

For a section of the body paragraphs, I would like you to specifically discuss 4-5 conflict resolution attempts and using the theory I mentioned above, please explain why or why not were they unsuccessful. Please mention conflict resolution efforts the were developed regionally or locally, as well as globally (UN, EU etc.).

For the conclusion of this research paper, please briefly restate some of the main argumentative points you discussed in the paper. End the paper with suggestions for the future of the conflict resolution process between the two ethnic groups or a call to action. Also, leave the reader with a sense that, as a result of what you have argued in the research paper, the Greek Cypriots resentment or hate of the Turkish Cypriots may be justified (historically and/or contemporarily).

This is a url link of a source (that is a academic paper on the topic) I would kindly like you to use. In addition, the way the source (academic paper) is structured, is similar to how I would like this order for an ARGUEMENTATIVE paper to be structured. In the sense that it is very well organized and has a methodical way about it. The url link is:

Again, a MLA work cited page and MLA IN-TEXT citations are required please.

Thank you for your time and co-operation. Please do not hesitate to message me at any time with any questions you might have.

[meteor_slideshow slideshow=”arp1″]

Movements of religious revival and constitutionalism were common in non-Western societies during the long nineteenth century. Why do you think that people in so many non-Western societies advocated religious revival and constitutionalism when pondering how to maintain or regain their independence from the West’s growing political and economic dominance in the world?

Research the status of Big Box retail stores–Best Buy, Costco, WalMart, etc. Who wins, who loses, when these companies enter a community, and are these jobs stepping stones to bigger things? Custom Essay

The Task: to write a 1700+ word page research-based essay which provides your readers with the information you believe they need to know in order to better understand a topic that a) captures your interest or concern, and b) is directly or indirectly related to any of our readings. Please know that I must approve the topic as you initially define it before you set out to begin collecting research; for suggestions, see Research Topics in Weekly Coursework for some possibilities. Choose an issue that you care about and are sufficiently interested in to want to explore. Do not choose an issue or question that you are unwilling to examine critically (i.e., consider various arguments about).

Please know that your eventual subject here may be one about which people have differing points of view about. Since this is a two-part sequence—your final, argumentative paper (#4) will argue on behalf of a position related to your research topic (paper #3)—you need to choose something of sufficient complexity about which reasonable people can disagree. (Note: for paper #4, in the event you can’t define a position, your fallback position will be to write a critical essay in response to topics I make available during Weeks ten or eleven, most likely on Arundhati Roy’s book).

For this research paper, pretend that you are on the staff of a professional researcher, administrator, venture capitalist, CEO or CTO (Chief Technology Officer), elected official, or other decision maker who wants to know more about the issue you have chosen. This person asks you to gather, organize, and summarize the crucial background information, the range of opinions, and the arguments s/he needs to know in order to make an informed and responsible decision related to the issue you’ve chosen.

The purpose of this paper is to present background information and various hypotheses, opinions, and positions, not necessarily to resolve issues or make recommendations. Your main rhetorical task is to present yourself as a reliable, trustworthy, organized and lucid reporter on the issue rather than as an advocate of a position. (A focused or overt advocacy will come later in the Argument paper, your final paper of the term.)

Format: 1,700 words plus words with at least five outside sources (at least three of them print sources, which is to say, text/words/language as opposed to film/oral interview, etc.). You must also include a “Works Cited” (bibliography) page at the end of your paper and you must use in-text citation for quotes and facts. Concerning the body of your paper, the goal here is to integrate the skills you’ve been sharpening this quarter—of reading, analysis, paraphrase, quotation & citation, and of giving breadth to your interpretations, all while at the same time controlling the overall direction of your paper.

Outside sources means not counting our course texts—you can use them, but they won’t count toward your five.

*Post topic proposal by Sunday : 1) Describe the topic you are going to write about; 2) list the specific question or questions you expect to explore; 3) explain why this issue is of interest to you; 4) briefly summarize a web page or web site, or an essay, article, or book about the topic and 5) discuss the feasibility of the project, that is, how you know that you can do the necessary research in the available time

This work contains two parts: feedback and a letter Custom Essay

[meteor_slideshow slideshow=”arp1″]

Performance Feedback Assignment

Overview:
This assignment involves performing a task in class and then providing performance feedback on that same task to a peer.

The assignment has three parts:

1 – Performing the task:
– You will be given a task to do ahead of class time.
– You will perform the task, following the instructions to the best of your abilities.

2 – You will do a random exchange of work with your peers:
– You will make notes on the performance of your peer.
– It will be important to note specific aspects of the performance so that you are prepared to provide constructive feedback.

3 – You have meeting #1, in which you will provide feedback to your peer or he/she will provide feedback to you; thus you are either the leader or employee:
– As the leader, you will conduct a 15-minute evaluative interview with your peer.
– As the leader, you will introduce the meeting, provide feedback and close the meeting.
– As the leader, you should also ask for input from your peer – e.g., how did she/he believe he/she performed, did he/she have questions about the feedback etc.
– During the interview it will be important to provide constructive, specific, concrete feedback communicating what was done well and what needs improvement.

4 – You will meet with another peer and switch roles, if you were the leader you will now be the employee and vice versa.
– You will follow the same instructions as found in Step 3.

On your own time – outside of the classroom.

5 – You write a feedback report to the peer whose work you evaluated.
– Communicate in this report what you thought of his/her work, the criteria used for evaluation and how the evaluation will be used. Only write what is honest, be candid & clear but also kind.

6 – Write a reflective analysis of your experience
– What worked well? What didn’t?
– What conclusions did you reach?
– What did you learn?
– See below for more information

Reflection and Analysis:
The following questions are about issues you should address in the reflection of the interview process, however, you may either answer them as questions, or weave your answers together into an analysis of the whole experience. Be sure to provide specific and concrete examples of how you conducted the interview.

Reflecting on my feedback to the candidate (30 marks – note that all three questions require that you use the theory and research presented in the readings to support your answers, the marks will be heavily influenced by your ability to correctly apply this material)
• How did the readings by Canon and Witherspoon (2005) and Silverman et al. (2005) influence the way in which you spoke to your peer about his/her performance?
• Do you think the models presented apply well to the nature of feedback you provided, and if yes, how did you use it?
• How do you think you might have used their model to guide your own acceptance of criticism related to own performance?

Reflecting on my skills as a leader conducting the evaluation interview (15 marks)
• Based on your experience and knowledge of how performance interviews should be conducted, do you think you were a good interviewer? Do you believe you acted in a professional manner? Please justify your answer.
• Were you in control of the interview, or did your peer manage to takeover and steer the interview in a way that allowed them to influence your evaluation?
• Consider how you introduced yourself to your peer and how you closed the interview. Did this go as you had planned it? If not, what would you change?
• What standard did you use to evaluate your peer’s performance? Did you explain this standard to your peer?
• Overall, what aspect of conducting the interview did you find most difficult? How would you make it easier for yourself next time?

Format & grammar (5 marks)
Your written command on the English language will be important to your ability to communicate as a leader. Grammar will be heavily weighted in these 5 marks, so be sure to proof read your assignment before handing it in for grading.

In total, the reflection and analysis should be about 3 to 5 pages long and should be in a 12-point font. A cover page or report cover is not necessary.
1
As a clarification, I wanted to communicate to everyone that the report to your peer component of the assignment should be written in the format of a formal business letter and should be no longer than about 2/3 of a page, single spaced with formatting matching that of a business communication. This component of the assignment will be worth 20 marks.
The analysis and reflection component of the assignment is worth 50 marks, and involves answering the questions posed on the assignment sheet. This component of the assignment should not be longer than 5 pages double spaced.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

Once a pathological process has started ‘one damn thing leads to another Discuss this statement with reference to named examples Custom Essay

[meteor_slideshow slideshow=”arp1″]

• This is a major issue in all assignments and will feature in all the exams you do as well. Some answers seemed to think the essay was about the effects of CNS diseases, others about the severity of CNS diseases. We can only mark what you put in front of us; we cannot reinterpret your answers as we think they should have been answered.
• The question said ‘discuss’. It is not enough to describe one disease, then describe the other, then say something like ‘as you can see, the CNS and the rest of the body are very similar…’.At a minimum, you should be describing one disease, then talking about the other with reference to the first (that can be as simple as ‘In contrast to (disease 1), (disease 2) does not…’). Even better, aspects of both diseases should be dealt with in turn (eg the role of cytokines in both diseases, the contrasting effects of the physical changes in inflammation at the two anatomical sites, etc). This ability to deal with things at a more abstract level indicates understanding and gets good marks.
• Simply filling the essay with detail without using that detail to address the question is counter-productive. Some of the best answers were those that used detail to support the arguments put forward, with little or no irrelevant detail left in.
• There seemed to be a tendency to write lots about the brain and then mention the counter-example in the rest of the body almost as an afterthought. In extreme cases, no counter-example was given at all! Again, we can only mark what is in front of us.
• You need to use good quality references (journals/books rather than websites) and cite them where appropriate in the text. Authoritative references and their citation adds authority to your work and makes it more impressive! No set amount of sources but needs to be all referenced clearly and properly from journals wherever possible.
• Try to structure your essay to organise its ‘flow’; this can be something as simple as using paragraph returns appropriately. Use headings, have an introduction and a conclusion, label you tables/figures with figure/table numbers, legends and sources.
• poor expression. This is a final year assignment, so naturally you are asked to discuss some quite complex topics; putting over complex ideas is not helped by poor use of punctuation, bad grammar and lack of clarity. Give your work a good proofread before submission

word limit. I didn’t mind folk going over the word ‘limit’ (though once past about 2500 words it could get tedious – and more words did not guarantee more marks!) but there really is no excuse for submitting fewer than 1500. How on earth can the subject of the essay question be exhausted/summarised in 700 words? Where submissions were more than 5% or so short, I adjusted the mark accordingly.

Referencing Requirements:
You need to use good quality references (journals/books rather than websites) and cite them where appropriate in the text. If you make an assertion about something that is not really obvious’, then you need to put a citation in; otherwise, what are we supposed to believe, that you are responsible for that observation? And if we know that you were not responsible and didn’t cite, then how are we to know when you do make your own observations? Authoritative references and their citation adds authority to your work and makes it more impressive!
