STORY OF AN HOUR: Discuss the impact of the element on the readers understanding of the story. For example, if you are analyzing the setting in Greasy Lake, you would address how understanding the way the setting provokes the action in the story is crucial for the reader to understand Boyle’s point Custom Essay

[meteor_slideshow slideshow=”arp1″]

Fiction Paper #2 Assignment Description Due Date: Thursday, December 12th
Your Task: SHORT STORY I AM CHOOSING IS : THE STORY OF AN HOUR
Write an analysis of one of the short stories we discussed in class, focusing on ONE of the following elements: setting, point of view,

theme, symbolism, character, or the author’s voice (which includes tone, style, and irony). To complete this assignment, you should carefully read pgs. 1919-1922 in Part 4: Writing, and then do the following.
1) You must decide on a thesis. Your thesis will be argumentative in nature. For example, the thesis in the sample paper says the following: The narrator’s tenuous hold on reality and his wild shifts in mood indicate that he is insane and, therefore, that his point of view is untrustworthy.
Once you have decided on your thesis, make sure that all content in the paper is related to that thesis.
2) Support your view with specific references to the story you are analyzing. The author of the above thesis then spends his paper proving that the narrator’s point of view is not trustworthy by giving examples of his tenuous hold on reality and insanity. In other words, to complete this paper, you must prove your thesis in detail, using quotations and specific references from the story to support

your ideas. Explain what in the story makes you feel the way you do.
3) Discuss the impact of the element on the readers understanding of the story. For example, if you are analyzing the setting in Greasy Lake, you would address how understanding the way the setting provokes the action in the story is crucial for the reader to understand Boyles point. You might also discuss how any change in the setting would change the storys meaning (like day vs. night).
Requirements:
The paper should be 2-3 full pages typed, double spaced, with 1 inch margins all around (you need to change this on your computer).

You should also use a 12 point size, Times New Roman font.
You should have an introduction that includes a clear thesis, proper paragraphs, proper punctuation and grammar, and a conclusion

that wraps up the paper
Make sure that when you copy quotes from the stories, you put quotations marks around the material and put the page number in

parentheses. If you are just referencing parts of the story without quoting, you still must use page numbers, but no quotes.
In the upper left corner put: your name, ENG124, Fiction Paper #2, the date

4.- Regarding the item in modules entitled “SPIN,” which we went over in class the week before Thanksgiving: use this item from modules to familiarize yourself with the SPIN Selling method. Then think up a scenario in which a sales person asks the four kinds of questions, hears the customer first make an implied need statement, then an explicit need statement, and answers the customer’s explicit need with a benefit statement. Your answer should include seven sentences, four of them questions and three of them statements.

5.- Early in the course, we used Patricia Kaas videos as well as a series of marketing videos related to KitKat candy bars. Explain what I was trying to get students to understand with these two presentations.

College essay/research for Transfer Student: How does the University of Chicago, as you know it now, satisfy your desire for a particular kind of learning, community, and future? Custom Essay

[meteor_slideshow slideshow=”arp1″]

Talk about how UCHICAGO was my number one choice last year but I was rejected. Now i am applying as a transfer because i am motivated to attend. In addition, dont make this about my major which I am thinking of it being political science or economics. tailor this to be about university of chicago and how much it could help me as a person and how tight knit the community is. DO REALLY GOOD RESEARCH ON THE UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO. Here is something interesting I have done. I have founded an organization in India that supplies food to different gurudawaras to feed anyone that comes to the specific sites. Currently, I have 10 gurudawaras I send money for food to and 1 gurudawara I had constructed that serves people. These places serve as a place of worship for anyone, not just Sikhs, and a place to feed those that come including the poor representing equality. Currently, I fund all this from land I had inherited from my grandfather that I rent out and land I have acquired due to recent investment. From the rent, I invest into the food. Talk about how UChicago could help me further my goals with this organization and help me network to make this organization reach out to many more people. relate this to my life. i also love learning about ethnic conflicts in the middle east talk about that. discuss particular events that happen in uchicago that i would like to be part of. make this very personalized.

REVISION INSTRUCTIONS:

Poorly written. It just does not flow. The first paragraph you are very redundant and you do not describes thinfs well enough. The second paragraph your ideas do not connect well. And third paragraph you dont argue about how beneficial the majors are properly. I was very dissatisfied when you explained middle eastern studies. Instead of middle eastern studies, write about political science major. I think it will be easier to write about because the middle eastern studies is hard to discuss. So now change it to economics and political science. I think it will help you in writing a better essay.

Prompt for Cultural Experience – San Diego Asian Film Festival Paper Custom Essay

[meteor_slideshow slideshow=”arp1″]

Prompt for Cultural Experience – San Diego Asian Film Festival Paper (15% of your final grade):

You must write a 3-5 page paper on two of the films or media programs that you saw at the San Diego Asian Film Festival. It is

acceptable for the paper to be longer than 5 pages, but the arguments and discussion must be as clear and as concise as possible.

Please also state whether or not you have ever attended a film festival before. If you have or have not, what did you think of the

SDAFF experience? Would you attend again? What were some of the successes of the festival and/or what would have made the festival

experience better for you?

The paper must use proper citation of film titles. If the film is not cited correctly you will FAIL the assignment. The paper should

focus on film form that we have examined in our readings or discussions. Example: you can discuss compositional structure of a

particular scene or shot or how the film uses sound or even color to impart meaning.

How is the film similar or different than other films you have seen? How was the film made? How will the film be distributed? If you

saw a film where there was a question and answer discussion period, what are some of the highlights of that discussion?

You must include cited references (author and pg. number) to at least 2 different readings in your paper. You must include a

bibliography at the end of the paper. One of the readings cited must be from Mimura.

A good analytical discussion about the audience reaction to the film will be given extra consideration.

Papers are due no later than Monday, November 25th by 5 pm on Turn It In (Week 9). Early submissions are greatly appreciated. Papers

must be posted electronically on Turn-it In.

Two films I watched:
1. Will you still love me tomorrow? (Arvin Chan, from Taiwan)
2. Unbeatable (Dante Lam)

This is my first time attending SDAFF. I highly recommended it and for sure will go again next year. It is a fantastic experience to

see Asian movies in America since I am from Hong Kong.

Both theme of the movie: About life, and the attitudes towards life.

Composition of particular scene in Unbeatable:
When Ming-Jun Huang is listening to the music, and flashbacking old days with his dead son and mature daughter. The camera is blurred

and with grey and brown color. Usually medium shot.

Composition of particular scene in Will you still love me tomorrow?
When Ah Feng was talking to Mandy about life and whether she is have abortion or going back to her fianc, she said, Life will not go smooth even when you deeply think about the decision you are going to make It is medium and closed-up shot. The light is a bit dark, which signifying the problem they are talking about is very serious.

Sounds used in Unbeatable:
There is a classical music used in the movie; Ming-Jun is listening to that music to calm her worries and mental disability.

Sounds used in Will you still love me tomorrow?
Ah Feng performed the song Will you still love me tomorrow? in front of Da Cheng when she got drunk because she knows her husband is actually gay, but still get married with her because he wants to be treated normal.

Unbeatable: this is the first Hong Kong film I watched, which is not about love story. I love one of the line Ching Fai said in the movie: You only live once. Even though I may die in the MMA boxing competition, but at least I have do something for myself. I have been wasting my time for 20 years; I do not want to have nothing (memorable thing) when I become old and died.

Will you still love me tomorrow?
Since in Chinese culture, we seldom talk about same sex marriage, it is a very extraordinary Taiwan film talking about same sex marriage, and how are those peoples life.
